Well, I think it is overall good. Publishers particularly are having it difficult to find their space on those new devices, and the revenue cuts were just plainly hurting publishers and subscribers. If you truly want to get an enhanced experience of magazine quality articles, then something got to give. Hopefully, this is what Apple realized, and will hopefully create a better user experience in the end.

Really not happy about the lack of clarity surrounding this. For all of you who are saying good riddance it's awful, there's a huge group of us on the other side of the fence who make a living off the back of Newsstand.

I have a huge number of customers who actually enjoy receiving a digital like for like copy of our magazine. They don't want a curated flip board experience and my client haven't got the staff to maintain one either.

I've spent 8 months developing our Newsstand App which my client proudly launched last month and we're up to 1000+ subscribers already and growing by the day, people love it.

I really, really need to know what is going to happen with that App and while the new News app does look cool, if my app gets switched off or I get asked to redevelop it to tie in with Apple's new vision for news, the next few months are going to be hell for me.

Cheers Apple. An email or something would've been nice.

I don't use much in Newstand but I do subscribe to the NY Times. Does this mean that tehy will just take away access to the paper on my phone?

does anyone know what will happen to paid magazine subscriptions that are currently in Newsstand… are they to be kept on the iOS device… how will they be accessed… and will they, and how will they, be available in the future for those of us that have prepaid for a year ahead????
cheers
