Apple is quick to declare a strong opinion on racial and gender issues, which are very important. But when Big Sur (which is what the new OS is named after) and Big Based burn to the ground not a peep about donating to wildfire fighters.

ies do it this way instead of donating a straight lump sum? Is it for financial, accounting or tax reasons? Is it for PR purposes?

It tricks the consumer into thinking they're contributing. The company gets a sale and the consumer gets to feel like they donated.

Yet another "We are pro-environment..." but we will glue and solder everything to make upgrades and repairs difficult/impossible, minimise our product's life, maximise our profits, and who cares about the environment.

Goood deal. Our parks can use all the help they can get.

Pay with Apple Pay at our stores, where we receive a commission from your bank every time you use Apple Pay and we will donate that money !!!

Thanks Apple, what a way to spin a donation.
