Based off from what I’ve seen on zollotech video and on twitter it seems what you see in the view finder seems identical to what the image produces compared to the amount of post processing Apple does add to the image currently. Guess will see

Still over-sharpened. Especially see the detail in the leaves in the images with the green fish.
The images he posted are different resolution, but even zoomed to the same size they definitely look different, the leaves in the processed image look "frosty" in comparison.
Crop: viewfinder on left, processed image on right.

I’ve been going back and forth on the viewfinder and the image on the right. The oversharpending looks much reduced. Also in daylight there should be minimal overprocesing to begin with unless of course like in this example you zoom in quite a bit.

What about ProRAW? I’m guessing you are stating that the jpeg images are still over sharpened? Has ProRAW been tested? I never shoot in jpeg or HEIF mode. Since any amount of sharpening can be added or removed from a raw image, I suppose the ProRAW quality hasn’t been tweaked?

Now 16.4 has arrived I feel processing has certainly improved. What you see in the view finder is more realistic to what your photo is processed as. Far more testing is needed but it doesn’t seem as over processed as before.

Since I always shoot RAW, I have noticed a slight improvement in camera image quality. I shot with HEIF a few times today and the image is cleaner. Also I can say that the camera focus is more precise as well. I say that because I have a couple of third party apps that accomplished better focus than the default camera especially in low light. Now after iOS 16.4, the focus on the default camera matches the third party apps for focus accuracy. I tested this out in my home by taking a photo of the kitchen area, mainly on the microwave time clock. Before, the time on the microwave was always softer than the third party apps, that’s no longer the case. I’m quite happy with what I see. I didn’t keep my samples, but at least I know now the quality is better.

Anyone else notice?

OK, I need more of you to check your camera and test and see if there are any improvements. This post is sitting dormant for too long. I have also noticed that the 3X camera is sharper as well. It doesn’t have that soft/blocky look to it as seen before the update. I would like for you to test that as well.
