By 2027, the era of handheld devices will slowly come to the end. Smartphones will fade into history, replaced by intelligent glasses — a brief transitional phase before humanity adopts AI-powered neural retinal implants. My company has been developing this technology for years — it’s not science fiction anymore, it’s the next evolution and the industrialization will start before 2030.
Why are so many people convinced that glasses will replace smartphones? There is almost no upside to glasses over phones other than maybe recording video. I always have my phone in my pocket. I never put my sunglasses in my pocket for obvious reasons.

If someone calls you, do you want to have to put glasses on just to see who it is or what text message was just sent?

Meta has seemed to have figured this out and are marketing their glasses toward people who already wear them. That's the market. People who don't wear glasses won't want to strap something to their face to do what they already can do at glance from a phone in their pocket or a watch on their wrist.

i wouldn’t mind a small border on the top and bottom of the screen for cameras etc, if it were also used for front firing stereo speakers instead of the silly one at the bottom

I'll believe it when I see it. We've been hearing stuff like this for years.
While anything is possible, it's hard to imagine Apple abandoning their styling cue that makes an iPhone instantly recognizable as such when viewed from the front.

Apple is nothing if not clever about branding and recognition. Whether it's the notch or the Dynamic Island on the front, or the Apple logo on the back, at a glance iPhones are easy to spot.

Apple knows it's popular to talk about a full screen display, however it's going to be interesting to see if they actually do it. Android phone makers have proven it's possible, but Apple in its typical fashion has held off.

Perhaps they have another styling cue in the wings. After all look how successful they are turning "safety cone orange" into a popular color not found on any Android phone.

We could just have enough bezel on the top (and bottom if looking for some symmetry) and none of this would be an issue.

We could just do that.

I know I will be in the minority here, but I honestly do not mind the current 'dynamic island' at all......
Yep. Me too. Since they went from notch to the island and added functionality to it, I don’t mind it a bit. Unless they can hide everything behind the glass with NO loss of quality, I’d prefer they just keep it.

Does it come with a wireless charging pillow? I’d like to wake up fully charged!

I have a 17 pro max and won't be upgrading again until the 20th anniversary iphone in 2027. I hope it truly is a nice remodel and upgrade kinda like how the 10th anniversary launched the iphone X which was a a big reboot for the iphone.

Will be fantastic if it is an all screen design. 2026 will have smaller dynamic island or hole punch with FaceID under the screen and for the anniversary edition will be all screen. Eagerly waiting to hear all the rumors leading up to the launch. Think Apple will price it at $1499.

And as with the Air you’re gonna repeat this a million times then when it’s released find something wrong with it to complain about and try to kill the product.

Glasses can be very different from what you have seen out there. In 2027 you will fall asleep with them. And return to this post.

I would have easily sacrificed this camera, “island”, “notch” just for perfect screen real estate. After post-COVID era I am sick and tired of using selfie camera for calls, as well as there is MacBook for just that (that shamelessly has a notch now but no Face ID!).

Apple is very inconsistent these days. They want to innovate but they don’t wish to sacrifice. But progress doesn’t work without sacrifices. I believe screen quality would be worse if they add under-display camera module. Why not just remove it alltogether for all-screen design?

I cannot see any reason to hide the camera unless they are going to do away with their beloved “Dynamic Island”.

Honestly I don’t know a single iPhone user that notices the thing after the first 15 minutes. And even the android people have gotten tired of making fun of it. But regardless as long as their is that huge black void in the middle of the screen a little pinhole is not going to make one iota of difference.

Maybe they could do something like get rid of the notch and have a glass-aware Dynamic Island when there was actually an activity posting it. But then people are IMMEDIATELY going to want to drag it around like PiP. It all seems like a lot of effort for no particularly good reason.
