By 2027, the era of handheld devices will slowly come to the end. Smartphones will fade into history, replaced by intelligent glasses — a brief transitional phase before humanity adopts AI-powered neural retinal implants. My company has been developing this technology for years — it’s not science fiction anymore, it’s the next evolution and the industrialization will start before 2030.
Why are so many people convinced that glasses will replace smartphones? There is almost no upside to glasses over phones other than maybe recording video. I always have my phone in my pocket. I never put my sunglasses in my pocket for obvious reasons.

If someone calls you, do you want to have to put glasses on just to see who it is or what text message was just sent?

Meta has seemed to have figured this out and are marketing their glasses toward people who already wear them. That's the market. People who don't wear glasses won't want to strap something to their face to do what they already can do at glance from a phone in their pocket or a watch on their wrist.

i wouldn’t mind a small border on the top and bottom of the screen for cameras etc, if it were also used for front firing stereo speakers instead of the silly one at the bottom

I'll believe it when I see it. We've been hearing stuff like this for years.
While anything is possible, it's hard to imagine Apple abandoning their styling cue that makes an iPhone instantly recognizable as such when viewed from the front.

Apple is nothing if not clever about branding and recognition. Whether it's the notch or the Dynamic Island on the front, or the Apple logo on the back, at a glance iPhones are easy to spot.

Apple knows it's popular to talk about a full screen display, however it's going to be interesting to see if they actually do it. Android phone makers have proven it's possible, but Apple in its typical fashion has held off.

Perhaps they have another styling cue in the wings. After all look how successful they are turning "safety cone orange" into a popular color not found on any Android phone.
