If the GC is comparable to discounts elsewhere, might be worth it if you have an Apple Card to get the additional 3%

Hmmm, I'm looking at upgrading my AirPods Pro in canada and I can get a $105 dollar gift card? Seems pretty reasonable, no?

About the only positive I can extrapolate from this is if you want to custom configure something that isn't off the shelf @ Amazon or Best Buy. I'm struggling w/ the recent sales on the MBP 14" vs a tricked out M2 MBA. I really only need the MBA, but when the price is a wash stepping up to the MBP 14 it seems like a no-brainer. However, maybe I'm swayed if I can get SOMETHING off the tricked out MBA.
I am in the same boat but likely going MBP - it’s just a different class of computer and the price difference is negligible once you trick out an MBA.

The fine print on the event page says: "Qualifying purchases can receive a discount equal to the value of the eligible Apple Gift Card off the price of the eligible product and will be charged for all items at checkout, including the Apple Gift Card."

If that means you can subtract the eligible gift card value from the total of the item you're buying, I might be able to add that to a gift card I've had just sitting in my account for a pretty decent deal on some APMs. BTW, the highest gift card value for AirPods in Canada is actually $105, and up to $350 for Macs.

EDIT: Oh, apparently the gift cards are only good for future purchases.

In Germany the perk is that if you buy it directly with Apple, they are also the seller and therefore have to fix things for 24 months instead of the usual 12 months. If you did not buy it with Apple directly, they would just send you away to talk to whatever department store you bought it from and those are usually much more picky with handling replacements than apple.
It's as similar situation over here in the UK. In the past I've a problem with a Magic Keyboard that was bought from Argos. It was 2 years old when it developed the fault. Argos didn't want to know, saying I'd had 2 years use out of it. Even when I escalated the issue. Then they eventually insisted on an engineer's test report to confirm it was faulty. When I contacted Apple direct to see if there was anything I could do. They said had I bought direct from them, they would be looking after me for the 6 year period offered by the UK Sale of Goods Act. (something they mention on their website too).

So, going forward, I'd never touch Argos with a bargepole. They were so rude as well. (probably because they get so many chavs trying it on, with trying to get a new telly). Will only buy from Apple direct now, or John Lewis if the offer is very tempting.

I'd guess the highest offer is for AirPods Max and that the Pros will be considerably less. It says "up to $X" for that category.

Probably we will see Apple Card @ $80 for $100 For maybe day or two. 🤞
More like 1 week.

Starting Nov. 20 through Nov 26, you can get a $15 Target gift card when you buy a $100 Apple gift card. Use Target Red Card to save 5% or Apple Pay for it with Discover card to get 5% cash back.

$15 Target gift card + 5% from Red Card/Discover Card using Apple Pay makes it $80 for $100.

Does anyone know if this applies to the education store? I just read that educational institutions don't qualify, didn't see anything about students.

From T+C:

Resellers, public entities, government entities, nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, education purchasers, enterprise purchasers, and business purchasers do not qualify.....

So I would say EDU does not qualify.

I wonder what the MB Air gift card will be -- "up to $250" is vague.
I think the $250 will be for the 16" MacBook Pro since it's the highest priced Mac while lower priced Macs like the 13" and 14" MBP ($200? $150?), MacBook Air ($100?), Mac mini ($100?), and iMac will see lower amounts.

Here are the Black Friday gift card offers from Apple for 2020 and 2021

One advantage of buying from Apple with these gift cards, rather than from another retailer at a discounted price, is you still get the Apple 14-day return period.
However, if you return the item, the gift card, and the cost thereof, is NOT returned. This has upset some people in the past.

For example, you buy a Mac for $2000, and get a $200 gift card with it. If you decide to return the Mac, you will get refunded $1800 not $2000, and you are forced to keep the gift card. You cannot return the gift card - you can only use it for another purchase.

At least, that has been my experience in the past, possibly they are more flexible now

That is incorrect. The law you are referring to is meant to protect customers from manufacturing defects that existed from the beginning. Within the first 12 months it is always assumed that the defect existed at the time of purchase but in the second year you need to prove this. This is effectively impossible to prove and Apple will, as in 100% and undoubtedly, refuse a free repair after 12 months. And this is EU law, not German law, since 1st of Jan 2022 the 12 months are in effect in most EU countries.

It mostly helps in cases where there is no manufacturer warranty at all. In any case, Apple will NEVER accept repairs under this law and will always try to get you to accept to do repairs on their own warranty terms which are always benefitial to them. You can try to discuss it with the store manager, but this is in no way practical. By law you have to be allowed to choose between the warranty and the consumer protection law terms, but if you ask an Apple employee they will always, always say that they can only open warranty cases.

And that's by design as the consumer protection laws are relatively strict in that a single failed repair after 11 months can actually allow you to request a full refund. Apple is extremely anti-consumer in that they are doing their very best to avoid this becoming the norm in their stores. This has actually just happened with a new Macbook that had some unusual audio distortion right out of the box and when the customer brought the device in for repair, it was returned a week later unable to reproduce the problem and the customer was told that there is no point in trying for another repair. Under these consumer laws this would be a no-question-asked full refund situation, but since it was done under warranty terms they now have to bring the device in yet again and hope the issue occurs during their store appointment so that Apple actually fixes it this time around.

Can the gift cards be added to your Apple account to be used for Apple Music and the like?

Aah yes, another year, another example of Apple’s curious understanding of the word “sale”.
Methinks they think that word means they get more sales and thus, more profits ;) So the classic "on sale" vs. "for sale".

Those cheaps and their latest models not even included? Even my dentist probably has better Black Friday deals
I had gum grafting surgery that was quite a relatively good price!
