Apple’s 50th anniversary is a big milestone, so you’d think they’d celebrate it in a noteworthy and meaningful way.

But no, seems like it’ll just be Marketing’s wet dream of celebrity and influencer events “all around the world”.
2026 is their 50th anniversary year and they have/are releasing a lot of nice stuff this year.

Instead of releasing a $7500 (in 1997) 20th Mac which was cost-accessible to only the wealthy, they released the Neo which is cost-accessible to almost everyone.

Remind us what Steve Jobs did specifically to mark Apple’s 25th.

It was a great joke, but it's a little unfair to call it bad handwriting recognition when it was the only such device with handwriting recognition at the time. It was extremely impressive technology for its time, years before the Palm Pilot came out with Graffiti (which worked very well, but was a system of simplified gestures rather than true handwriting recognition).

And of course, Apple's work on the Newton led to them investing in a little startup called ARM. Which went on to become the foundation of the chip architecture which underpins all of Apple's devices today.

Agree, I mean Siri is way more embarrassing, moreso becuase nearly everyone else has done it better.

They didn’t suggest it be pronounced incorrectly. If you use it is an acronym the pronunciation changes.
They put an F in it so I don’t think they understand how acronyms work.

At best it would be pronounced Pill, IPIL, or maybe Full if you incorrectly think that h would be part of the acronym. But as long as we’re adding “a” sounds to a name without As, it could be pronounced like APL.

And Ronald Wayne. Apple was founded by Jobs, Woz, and Wayne.

The 50th anniversary marks the anniversary of the founding of Apple, so therefore the two living founders, Woz and Wayne, should be invited. This is their day, so they should be the central focus of the celebration.

But considering how clueless and mediocre Tim Cook is, it wouldn’t be surprising if Wayne was neither invited nor even mentioned.
As another poster said, did Steve invite them or acknowledge them for any other Apple anniversary? Anyway the faux Tim Cook outrage is funny.

What? Didn’t you read the other similar comments. The F is for Fiftieth. It’s also a joke, just like at least the prior comment, if not the first.

Apple today announced that it will be celebrating its upcoming 50th anniversary by hosting gatherings "around the world" throughout the month of March.

"Each gathering highlights human creativity and ingenuity in action, and showcases the remarkable things people can do when they have the right Apple products in their hands," said Apple.

17-time Grammy Award-winning music artist and producer Alicia Keys kicked off the celebrations today with a surprise performance at Apple's Grand Central store in New York. Apple invited selected content creators to the impromptu concert, which was also open to the public.

Apple's CEO Tim Cook, hardware engineering chief John Ternus, marketing chief Greg Joswiak, retail chief Deirdre O'Brien, and others were in attendance at Grand Central.

Apple's 50th anniversary is on April 1, 2026. The company has yet to reveal exactly where and when it will be hosting additional celebrations.

Well deserved giant celebrations considering how successful Apple has become in 50 years especially under Tim Cook! Very excited for the success of company and Tim!

It's just too bad the new OLED MacBook won't be ready in time for the 50th birthday celebrations. They could have released a special edition and called it the 50th Anniversary Mac ("FAM")!
No worries! It will be ready within the 50th and 51st year anniversary period! No biggie!

... or even better, they could have released the first foldable iPhone as a special 50th Anniversary Phone ("FAP").
No worries it also will happen within 50th and 51st golden anniversary period in this coming September! It also no biggie!

No product announcement in 50th anniversary?
No worries! OLED MacBook and iFold/ iPhone Fold will happen between 50th and 51st golden anniversary period! No biggie. They will still be the 50th golden anniversary product icons!

The foldable iPhone would have been the perfect device to show Apple still has innovation after 50 years.
It will be the major iPhone innovation, user experience transformation and evolution in the iPhone history. Despite not being in in April 2026, it will be in the 50th year golden anniversary period in September 2026!

I didn’t hear a lot about this until a week ago— it all seems very last minute.

My opinion is Apple has been planning this for some time. But that’s the way it is an announcement after all that planning and it seems last minute.

They have planned it for a long time but the decision to do it now could be very last minute

The iMac G3 saved apple from collapse! I strongly believe there is a new iMac around the corner for the anniversary, the colourful apple logo currently advertised seems to be the iMac colours????

Not Wayne afaik, but I recall Woz being at several Apple events/keynotes over the years. Not sure if he was invited or was able to attend because he's an Apple Fellow & a co-founder.

Regardless I think this is one of the few times Apple's ever done an anniversary event isn't it?
