iPhone Pro prices have only increased once, for 15 Pro by $100 which continued with 16 Pro, despite higher inflation over the last 4 years, so they've likely lost margin. If they're trying to change that they either increase price or lower cost to make, and they have likely done surveys that show that Pro buyers buy it because of cameras, screen etc, more so than the frame material, and considering Pro Macs and iPads don't use Titanium, they've made the choice to go all aluminum.

If you are able to, pick up any iphone that is a 6 though 11 with the rounded sides and you will see a massive difference compared to your phone.
I owned a 6S for several years - that was great in that it was thin, but I always felt it was too slippery and easy to drop.

The costs are less and less due to economies of scale and advancement of technology. The iPad Pro M4 uses a much nicer display tech but again Apple saves money on other components and probably profits more. Transportation is cheap at Apple’s scale. Labor is essentially free, as Apple Pay’s $5 in China to assemble every iPhone (think about that - the employees that build them are kept in quarters and controlled in an almost slave-like way - I mean tout the environment all you want but how about human rights?). The ecosystem is sticky as everyone wants the interoperability among Apple devices. Services is where Tim sees the company scaling, as he knows they cannot sell more iPhones. So until regulation catches up with them, Apple will maximize by economies of scale and anticompetitive practices.

It better be titanium for what they cost now :).

If they're gonna go with weight reduction, they might as well go back to aluminum/aluminium...

I tried holding both iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 Pro and although different generations, the non-Pro is lighter because of aluminum/aluminium frame...

We know very well that at least one of the leaks was intentional from Apple to catch the leaker...

Everyone puts a case on there phone so you really can’t enjoy and appreciate the premium titanium look and feel unless you go caseless.

I mainly care about the weight of the phone and my new iPhone 16 Pro Max 6.9 inch is really heavy to hold with one hand ✋ 🧱

I would really appreciate them significantly reducing the weight of the Pro max.

Cost of doing same stuff in iPhone doesn’t cost a lot for Apple except for the new hardware (which is almost NIL, except for the Camera which is already taken care through Software). This inflation factor is nothing since general electronic parts gets cheaper at leat 10% YoY. Apple almost uses same stuff wrt electronics inside and chip tech is their own and they can’t blame inflation on that. Already, iPhone top models are sold at $2100 in many countries outside USA. They don’t share the same sentiments that it is getting cheaper.Base model iPhone 16 itself nearly $1000 with 60 Hz 10 years old Tech.

My iPad Pro M4, third party pencil hvings issues swapping from the bottom to go to the Home Screen from the App. It used to work earlier. Not sure when it stopped working like this since I hardly use pencil but when I tried to use it today, it is behaving weird.
I have an M1 iPad Pro 11 inch. It was a Christmas gift from my daughter two years ago. I still have it and using it here and there. I like to draw and paint. I haven't done it in so long that I wasn't aware that there was a digital art platform til I got an iPad Pro. I really like this whole digital art platform. Definitely new and challenging for me to get into and learn. The only thing I had updated was my 2015 MacBook Pro to a M3 Pro MacBook Pro 16 in Space Black. That was last spring in May 2024. It's night and day in comparison. I have no issues whatsoever at this point. No upgrading, no time soon. I still have my 2019 iMac 27 inch screen. Love it.

Until there where no „pro“ models and every iPhone was „pro“d by the way It’s not the metal that make it pro. It’s the features like camera and screen eg.
The materials that make up the product do indeed add to Apple’s definition of “Pro” for iPhone. The same can’t be said about iPad, but that’s two different products anyway.

What's the point of reducing weight if you're going to be a big, ugly, heavy case on it anyway?

I don’t think it’s so much the weight that’s the issue but the balance of the weight. The camera bump makes the top right side imbalanced and if Apple could balance the and evenly distribute the weight of the phone it would be a far better experience.

I feel like this is just a known leaker giving their own commentary on the original aluminum rumor. It doesn’t seem like they have specific info to refute this rumor. Just the same concerns many here had about it being a really strange move if Apple debuted titanium and made a big fuss about it only to reverse course after only 2 generations.

This…doesn’t feel like new information.

I am very torn on which I actually want in the 17 Pro Max. I just don’t want Apple to **** it up because that is the phone I will be getting next.

This rings very true. It’s one of the reasons I went with the 15 Plus rather than the Pro Max. That camera module at the extreme corner of the phone was much lighter - even if the overall weight between the two wasn’t that great.

lower the price
and lower the weight
and up the innovation
and up the bedazzling live presentations
and up the changing up of camera bulge design after 6 generations on the Pro models (looking at you, iPhone 11 Pro / Max)

Make iPhones Great Again

Sorry, I didn't read all 73 posts. BUT, the iPhone 15 & 16 Pro series DOES NOT have a titanium frame. It never did. Nor will the 17 Pro series.

The iPhone 15 & 16 Pro series have a crappy Titanium veneer which is bonded/electro welded to the ACTUAL aluminum frame. I don't recall whether the older Stainless Steel phones also had an SS veneer or if the entire frame was SS.

The inclusion of the Titanium veneer actually made the phone LESS durable which is why the 15 Pro Max bent when JerryRigEverything tested it. But Apple redesigned it somewhat for the 16PM so it was stronger.

Apple needs to stop obsessing over form, and focus more on function. Heat Dissipation, Cellular performance, battery life, etc. That said, the 16 Pro/ProMax, together with iOS 18, is actually very good on all of these fronts. Though they should have used the x75.
