This could happen tomorrow, at WWDC or never. It could also be a unicorn, another type of horse or nothing. I could just be making ***** up to get attention. I could be Steve Jobs.

It'll need to be a quantum leap better in terms of privacy than Ping was.

Going back and adding my real name retrospectively to app store reviews with some of the nutters in the app store? Sod off.

This could be pretty interesting. An app like this on a computer would just be another Facebook clone, but on an iPhone, I'd try it out.

My guess: Boxcar was bought by Apple, will be coming out with new Apple-designed version of their service and will tie into a new free MobileMe.

Charlie Sheen joined twitter today, so twitter is pretty much over with...

There is space on the Social network landscape for something new.

Why do you have your username in your signature? We know who you are and you don't have to reiterate that.

Just because a signature exists, doesn't mean you have to use it. ;)

The one guy in the entire world to ever use the signature box on a forum for an actual signature and you are attacking him?

BBM Competitor?(AKA iUnicorn)

this is how it would work everyone who owned an Ios device would have it. This Would be awesome!!!!! no more having 15 different apps on ipod to have to deal with to text one friend each WOOT!!!!

Let's see tomorrow. I'm attending GDC and today we passed in front of the center:

Please Apple, no. You don't do "look at me too" well. Google and Microsoft are in this rut, please avoid it!

If it's integrating well with Facebook, it could be interesting.
If not, it's pretty much non-news. :(

Large groups of people are not jumping on new social networks anymore.

And social networks need critical mass to succeed.

This is why Ping wasn't successful. This is why Google Buzz wasn't successful.

Not good enough. More than just iOS users need to get this for it to be successful. They're competing with Twitter and Facebook.

What will happen with us paying MobileMe subscribers that just recently are paid for a family pack if they offer a free service? I would kind of feel ripped off.

Please just let it be integration with Facebook, Twitter, and Identi.ca rather than Apple trying to reinvent the wheel again. I don't see any need for further integration with existing social networks, but it'll still be more useful (and less annoying) than Ping 2.

And why do people think they should be trying to emulate BBM? BlackBerry Messenger brings nothing useful to the table; it's just trying (and failing) to make its own proprietary communication network, while everyone I know with a BlackBerry just uses MSN instead. Admittedly that does sound like a very Apple idea, but I hope they show some common sense this time around. You know, just to mix it up a bit.

I don't get the economics of changing a successful paid service to a service which is free. Why would Apple do that? Because Steve is away??

And, what happens to us schmucks that have already paid our yearly subscriptions?

The great thing about Whatsapp is the fact that it's multi-platform. IMO creating an Apple-only messaging service is a step backwards.

I'd imagine some type of premium tier. So if Apple gives hands 5GBs of free storage to freebie users, paid users get 20GBs. Possible a credit towards iTunes/AppStore or the brick & mortar locations.
