After 9 years, for a phone? Wow, who knew phones could last that long and still work? Probably not a lot of them out there
My XS Max is round the 3.5 year mark for me, and my hope is to make it an even 10 before I get a new one.

I definitely miss the whimsy of these. They almost recaptured the colorful late-90s/early-2000s spirit that Apple hasn't been comfortable reassociating with for whatever reason.

Apple plans to mark the iPhone 5c as an obsolete product next month, according to a memo obtained by MacRumors.

Apple marked the iPhone 5c as a vintage product in October 2020, which meant the company and its service providers could only provide certain repairs for the product, subject to part availability. On November 1, Apple will mark the iPhone 5c as an obsolete product, ending all repairs and services, according to a memo sent out today to authorized service providers. Apple also said in the memo it would mark the third-generation iPad mini with Wi-Fi and TD-LTE as obsolete on the same day.

The iPhone 5c was an iconic iPhone released alongside the iPhone 5s in September 2013. The iPhone 5c was the first to be offered in a series of bright and vibrant colors, including blue, green, pink, yellow, and white, in an "unapologetically plastic" design. The iPhone 5c also marked the first time Apple had released a lower-end iPhone model aimed at budget-conscious customers, with pricing for the 16GB model starting at $99 with a two-year contract in the United States.

Still reckon this was one of the best iPhones I ever had. Great size, amazing value and really rugged!

Brilliant at the time 👍🏻

My partner had one and whenever it dropped on the floor the sceen would crack. Screen replaced 3 times … the cost of which would have easily paid for the upgrade to a 5s. Cute but…

Until the launch of the iPhone 5c, I had resisted getting an iPhone. I had moved to a different office at work and to be able to fully access the wifi there, you needed an iOS or Andriod device to install the necessary certificates. At the time, I had a BlackBerry Z10. A great phone, but lacking in apps.
The 5c was in white and I had bought the black perforated case. I bought the 5c in Nov 2013 and it was not replaced by an iPhone 7 until Apr 2017. I then moved on to iPhone XS, 12 Pro and 13 Pro.
My latest iPhone 14 Pro is due to be delivered tomorrow.

I bought the 5s, and remember pretty vividly a lot of teenagers (older than my own kids back then) with those 5c’s about five years ago. I knew it was because they were affordable and got them into Apple’s better OS. Too bad today’s parents of teens don’t have that affordable option. So there’s droid and the like that welcome them to their platform instead at a reasonable price

It would kind of be cool if the new iPhone SE, based on the XR, had a plastic back in various colours to make it even cheaper and more durable.

Made me laugh out loud when the latest Jurassic Park movie showed a grad student still using a 5c. She would have been 12 when it came out.

“Pink”

Apple still hasn’t figured out what pink is now, never mind then 😂

These were AWESOME... except they were outdated when they launched since the 5S was out then... I wanted one soo bad but didn't want old hardware.

Apple knew exactly what they were doing with these things. They finally gave us colors but outdated...
But they do this every time. The regulars have nice colors, but the pros are only one and out of the four recent, I only like SB. The other three look black or dark gray most of the time. Why can't we have a Pro in a bright color for once?

I actually want these colour on newer iPhones. Catchy and fresh looking, I'm getting tired of muted colours. Silver, Metal, Midnight, White. Even the green and purple dark muted.
Exactly. Only one I like in Pros is SB. Give us bright colors. Just because we want the best iPhone doesn't mean we're stuffed shirts and only want dull colors

My company offered the 5C as a free phone at the time. I was like no way, I'll pay up for the 5S.

Plastic backs were awesome, coming from a white iPhone 3G user.
