Are they going to sue for lack of 32-bit support in Catalina next? These lawsuits are ridiculous.

You know, you may be on to something. The Apple Discussion Forums are still full of outraged users who upgraded to Catalina and then found out their old software was dead, especially the Office Mac crowd. The big difference, though, is that these outraged users can downgrade their macOS to a previous version where things still worked. For those buying new machines with Catalina installed, no options.

just upgrade your iphone every year, like I do...problem solved, no software or hardware issues👍

But, but, but, once you buy something it should be supported FOREVER! Once you laid out money for Office Mac it should continue to work ad infinitum no matter what hardware or operating system. It’s Apple’s duty to support legacy software in perpetuity. My old OS 9 software should still run on Catalina. I’m going to sue!

As a proponent but not apologist for Apple, I do wish they were transparent & honest about why FaceTime on iOS 6 was shutting down.

While I'm no corporate strategy expert my gut feeling is that had Apple put out a statement saying with the release of iOS 7 stating that FaceTime support on iOS 6 would be ending on a specific date due to migrating to a different backend architecture would have been the appropriate way to handle this.

This clearly shows the law doesn’t understand computers,

just look at the PSP the one with online games no server Sony discontinued it should they be sued or the old 16bit consoles and 32bit that had early forms of online no longer works things move on

Who did they have for an attorney? Michael Avenatti? "I can make this go away if you'll just give me a large fee to settle?"

Agreed about purchased software. But IOS is rented/leased/insert your term, not purchased.

This is ridiculous. With this logic, both Apple and Google should be sued because in iOS6.0, they removed the classic YouTube app. And only a couple months later, compatibility with the YouTube app from iOS 4.2.1 until iOS 5.1.1 was broken. And after iOS 4.2.1 was released with the new for 2010 YouTube rating system, compatibility for the YT app on iOS 4.1 and below was broken.

Go right ahead and sue. Find a lawyer and see how far you get

Very much so. I was one of them who hated iOS 7 so much, I refused to update my iPhone 4S for it. Then I lost FaceTime entirely when my family got iOS 7 on their devices.

I was one of them too. It rendered my device unusable, I ended up giving it to my father to listen to radio and podcasts.

So whats yalls opinion, is Apple guilty ?

😱 be careful, using the words “guilty”+”Apple” here may cause some people a heart attack. The average fan will never acknowledge Apple is at fault because in their eyes they can do no wrong.

So one suit settled for chump change (that naturally went to the lawyers) and one suit dismissed outright. Not much to see here.
Agree! This case probably never even saw the inside of a courtroom with a judge & jury. This is as they say "a Nothingburger." Apple just needed to get the "angry little dog nipping at its pant cuff" to go away and that chump change did the job as they knew it would. Move along.

How stupid. Is someone going to sue Microsoft for dropping XP support? The 6 is EOL, no software updates, should be recycled, has a bunch of never-going-to-be-patched security holes.
Not necessarily siding against Apple, but this isn’t quite the same. It’s one thing to stop supporting something, it’s another to stop the function of something.

One should generally be careful accusing somebody or some corporation of something without concrete evidence, as a lawsuit will follow ...

Those people always crack me up. They need the latest/greatest cutting-edge OS, but can't be bothered to update their applications along with it. People still hanging onto Quicken 2007 just because they like the way it works.

Really? The "average fan" eh? Don't be that guy, you're basically as bad as the people you're talking about when you do that.

That happened to me. Luckily I soon upgraded. Still have to go through and change all the settings to make the flat interface less terrible.

Sometimes it's not about how much a class member gets. Sometimes it's about punishing a company. Unfortunately, $18 million is chump change for Apple. Fine should have been larger to make a point.
It seems the legal system has decided Apple doesn't need much punishment, which you don't agree with.
