I'm so thrilled all of us can share in the delight of a WWDC keynote experience today. Only Apple can do this because they control the hardware and software experience.

iOS8 device compatibility: iPhone 4*, 4s, 5, 5c, 5s

Can you imagine how slow it would be on the iphone 4? Def not installing iOS 8 on my iphone 4 or iPad mini.

"as users will need Safari on Mac/iOS or QuickTime 7 on Windows in order to watch the stream."

I thought the days of Vivo/Real/Flash-only were over.

It actually is. Apple isn't going to promote chrome whih is actually the only HLS (html5 live streaming) browser compatible on windows, so they promote QuickTime for windows which has HLS built in.

Whats the best way to watch this? Last year I got a few buffering issues with the stream viewing it on my laptop even though I have 120mb connection. Is Apple TV more stable ?

6pm in the UK... I normally get home from work around 6:10 so hopefully I'll only miss the "devices sold" / "new retail stores" preamble and none of the main announcements...

Hey all!

So very sadly, this will be the first WWDC keynote in a very long time that I won't be able to watch live due to my physics final exam starting at 1PM eastern

However, I don't plan on getting the juicy story any where else but firsthand. Anyone have a clue if there is a cache somewhere (mirror, etc) of the keynote that will be available shortly after the conclusion of the keynote?

If someone is recording the keynote using VLC or something, could they potentially share it with me via google drive?

Thanks for helping out a fellow geek! :apple::apple:

The video will be available here, as evidenced by their other videos you can stream right now, you'll have to wait until 3:00PM at the earliest though, and you have to watch it in Safari, it won't work in any other browser regardless of OS.

Honestly, I'd be very surprised if it was available on iPhone 4.

They're using HTML5 for the video, they're just making the page only play if it's displayed in Safari. if you change your user agent it will probably work.

Honest question: is there some technical reason why Apple restricts their live stream to Safari and Co., and if so: what is it? I mean Apple is not the only company providing live streams on the net (and others do serve the Usual Suspects of browsers). Or is this simply some artificial "Apple Ecoworld" restriction?

Thanks
