In no universe will conglomerate executives "absorb costs."

The price hike will be passed to the American consumer, then marketed as a great thing because the higher payments go directly towards employee health care and benefits.

People who think any corporation will suddenly change their stance is like expecting a billionaire tax-dodger to become president to drain the swamp.
It's entirely possible so it's possible we can see it actually happen, Apple will absorb the costs. That's business, they work in a regulatory environment. Customers have a limit on price so Apple will have to stay put on price and absorb.

I bet they didn't realize that India has the most national holidays of any country in the world.

Plus a bunch of regional and religious ones.

That removes about a month's worth of work each year.

I wasn't aware of that either. Then perhaps to off set the missing days due to holidays/festivities, would be working longer hours or increase the number of workers to make up for any lost productivity. I can't speak for India's workforce, but I would imagine there would be a way to compensate for the demand.

He is exaggerating, the holidays/festivals are greater in number due to diversity in different regions and states But most of the festivals are state or region specific so you won't get All-India holidays on such days.

Basically, you can expect 10-15 days max in a year and don't forget that people work till Saturdays in India as its a six days work week, only exception is IT and finance related MNC's who follow Global/USA 5 days work week.
