Just appeared on my Apple TV.
Buggy when you go back to the menu. Resolved by going to another app and back to the main menu.

Was that through an automatic update or manual or is it some kind of dynamic menu update? I guess I could go look at ours, auto updates are off, it's also JB'ed so I'd hate to have to update.

Dynamic menu update, just like how Genius was added a couple days ago. When I woke up my Apple TV from sleep I moved through the menu system, it then froze for a second, and then reset the menus. When I went to the Internet menu, iTunes Live was there.

I am not sure if they just had the menu hidden or added the entire thing through the dynamic update. Could be like in iTunes when they add new items, all they do is update HTML. It could be the same thing here, but with XML.

Thats what I'm thinking. Wonder what other goodies they could add instantly.

I can't with some of the people hating on The Beatles and Paul. I guess with all the crap that the radio plays today, it has destroyed people's appreciation to good music.

Yeah, if the menu is a simple, downloadable XML document with the position/title/meta and an attribute to reference whatever service delivers content to that item (IP, protocol and whatnot), they could easily add new "channels" (the device itself has the playback/decoder/UI/etc. already in place).

Cool, thanks, I'll check ours out a little later (assuming it's there based on your post).

Ah, us seniors have no taste. We're all pathetic morons locked in the past and unable to appreciate the immense current current talent popular with those young folks - like Justin Bieber. Oh, if I only were younger I'm sure I would enjoy the immense youth talent.
 :p

you forgot the to mention the cutting edge sounds of LMFAO and Kei$a, Oh Boy! thats good stuff. why would you bother listening to old stuff when you have these musical visionaries to choose from everyday ;)

FYI. Sarcasm

So how does this effect the functional use of your computer or phone ??? If your not interested ignore it.

1 . The fact you say the Beatles suck brings your credibility into question.
2. If you weren't aware that iTunes is a huge part of apples business for 10 years. And apple tv and it's likely full tv successor, appear to be the next big thing that they are working on. Then you should climb out from under the rock.
3. How is broadcasting a live concert making a political statement ?

For the same reason if they heavily promoted sales of the Bible through the Apple bookstore.

Beatles do suck. They're all as old as ****, and are not particularly current.

Maybe it isn't Apple. Maybe it's the blogosphere acting like this is such a big deal, when it isn't.

I'd rather see a Black Sabbath or Eminem concert.

I'd rather listen to music on the Sprouts channel with my 1 1/2 year-old than listen to the Beatles.

kisses on the bottom, senility on the horizon...

Say what?!
She is one of the most annoying artists alive today!

15 years ago she 'd be a back up singer at best, 25 years ago she'd be a groupie, 35 years ago she 'd be a groupie for the roadie, and 45 years ago she'd she'd be at a back of some concert smoking a doobie before getting involved in a threesome with two fats guys drunk on beer. Rock music has been getting worse by the decade...

Beatles suck.

What does any of this have to do with selling phones & computers? If they want to be a media company, they have to look politically agnostic to remain appealing as a tech company.

OK, you made all of the Beatles fans mad (old people buy Macs too). You are correct about Apple, it is a media company. With each passing year Apple is more about selling content to use on their really great machines made for enjoying Apple content. The last thing the walled garden is about is hardware.

On most songs The Beatles however do not suck.

Thanks for proving my point.

when you are trying to make a point about some band being as old as ... you probably shouldn't request another band who's as old as .... too. Still fun to see old ozzy going though, especially so when good old john rip lennon surely has more alive brain cells within his casket than ozzy in vivo.

WELCOME, Sweetchill :D

I see you're new here, and I'm sure you'll be a fine addition the this insanity. And I'm not just saying that because you supported my post...well, maybe a little.:p

This is, indeed, a looney bin...but you'll learn stuff if you're a newbie, and have some laughs.

A tiny bit of advice - develop a thick skin, quickly.

But have fun!:D

I couldn't agree more. No more Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis. No more Rolling Stones (well. they're still alive...but), Jefferson Airplane (Starship), AC/DC, Linda Ronstadt, Steelye Dan, Van Morrison...

Ah well...:D

It's funny, you'd think access to the vast diversity of the internet would open people's minds in regards to the many different tastes and opinions of others all around the world, encouraging tolerance. Instead there is no shortage of people who think of it as a platform to impose their own viewpoint as though it were common knowledge and fact...

...sigh...

It's so funny how people here focus on the wrong thing.

The main point of this story is that Apple is doing a live stream from within Apple TV.

It doesn't matter who the artist is, but that they're testing this technology on a major artist, which will test their technology.

Imagine if they performed this same test last Sunday with the Super Bowl. Of course we would have pages and pages about either the Patriots and the Giants, with the main point being missed.

sigh...

I admire the Beatles and their HUGE contribution to music and I love Paul McCartney....

But "Kisses on the Bottom", why not something hip and modern like "Ass Kisser" then? ;) I dunno. Especially when said with a british accent "Kisses on the Bottom" just sounds really funny (and kinda stupid).

Am I seriously the only one to think this?? BTW the music previews thus far the album are good! I haven't heard a song yet I haven't liked (except for the name of the album, I just can't get over that). lol

Lets see how this will play out, if its a huge success you could watch certain artists concerts live even if you haven't managed to get a ticket... maybe even a subscription based service i am looking forward to the outcome :apple:
