In an Apple Newsroom editorial today, Apple Music radio host Zane Lowe revealed that Apple is building tools directly into Logic Pro that will allow musicians to create and mix their songs in Spatial Audio for Apple Music.

"Apple is building immersive music-authoring tools directly into Logic Pro later this year," wrote Lowe. "So any musician will be able to create and mix their songs in Spatial Audio for Apple Music — whether they're in the studio, at home, or wherever."

Spatial Audio, based on Dolby Atmos, is an immersive surround sound audio format that enables musicians to mix music so it sounds like the instruments are all around you in space. Thousands of Apple Music songs are available in Spatial Audio starting today, such as Lady Gaga's "Rain on Me" and Kanye West's "Black Skinhead."

Logic Pro is Apple's professional music production software for the Mac, and is priced at $199.99 on the Mac App Store, with a free 90-day trial available.

Please work on bugs, stop releasing features that are not critical:

-automation export/ render still with the same bug, as 5 years ago, it doesn't export the right curves values
-logic native plugins will not reset automation values in tracks ....since 2018 ..no change
-Pitch correction is not reversible , once the source material is pitched, there is no going back. Basically you have to work with duplicates which might be fine for simple sessions, but not on larger sessions..

I don't need new features , I need working features.

What are you doing to pitch correct? It’s absolutely reversible if you’re using flex pitch.

It will be updated sometime in December. These Apple employees needs to stop working from home. They are taking their sweet time to release anything at this point.
As an audio producer (12 yrs) and guy WFH for the past 2 years, I can assure you WFH isn't an issue here, and also that Spatial Audio isn't really going to defeat stereo any time soon, or at all.

No one is using it. Everybody is using Premiere, Davinci or Avid... FCPX is nowhere to be found and that is because Apple killed FCP7 like that.
most stupid, incompetent (and totally false) comment of the month (make it the year)

proof : among so many), the impressive " pro users stories section" of a site like fcp.co You stand corrected.

Try on a vocal track , change the pitch , now switch back from flex to normal...does it sound the same?.. look for small glitches.. .The effect is more apparent when compress.

What’s the typical license duration on Apple software?
I bought Logic in 2018 - is there a point where they’ll ask for more money, or stop providing updates unless I pay again?

Logic Pro X has been on the Mac App Store since 2013 and hasn't cost anything additional since but that's about all we have to go off of now since they were selling boxed copies until 2011 when they moved Logic 9 to the MAS and dropped the price to $199.

Hmm, here I am jumping through hoops to deliver material for Atmos with a logic that has an 80% baked 5.1 (real world) system. Exited to see, too late for now. But hey- fix your damn latency compensation first and allow flexing and pitching of surround content without dumping it to stereo. Please.

I'm all up for criticism but leave the Logic team alone. They have been incredible and have helped our careers for peanuts by giving us the best most fully featured DAW in the world. Apple appreciate that Logic is a big seller and bringer into their ecosystem so they have continues to pour money into the team which still features many originals from Emagic. Credit where credit is due.

Once you've bought Apple software, the license tends not to expire.
Full Atmos will cost money though, because Dolby Atmos (TM) has a license cost associated with it.
Spacial audio is an Apple-only thing, so whether anyone outside of the Apple ecosystem will give a damn is another matter.
