Can a single supplier make 40 million of these panels a year? Can Sharp?
As long as Apple hasn't released these panels and there is no more information on Sharps site the answer is NO.
Edit: What about this so called Moth technology, Philips has a high end LCD with this and it has raving reviews?
If digitimes has such a poor record with it's 'rumours'. Why do the news sites persist in using everything they say as a main news story? When it has a 50% of being actually true?
Ah but the new TV will not have a screen. The current TV does not have a screen either. This would be nice for the new Apple TVs too![]()
Much ado about nothing! In the real world, the only thing that will really matter will be processing power (so that UI lag is kept at bay) and RAM (so true multitasking is improved). The current display is plenty good for 99% of users out there (save for some serious gamers) and even for media consumption (vis a vis Kindle Fire) the display of the iPad 2 is perfectly good enough. Not to say that if apple improve on it, I won't welcome it but it's not a game changer for me.
I'll be honest, I read 4 words into the article before stopping. Digitimes has no credibility whatsoever anymore. They just throw out random guesses.
However, if true, this would be pretty cool. The displays on iDevices are already really good, so even better would be awesome.

I hope the viewing angles and color depth will be as good as the current IPS displays or this will be a huge step backwards.
My insider friends tell me the iPad 3 is going to have IGZO display tech. Or it might be IPS. Or possibly OLED.
Anyway, the new iPad 3 is definitely going to include some sort of display. And the unit will include at least one backlight, maybe more.
If the iPad gets any thinner, it will become more difficult to use, not less. There comes a point where thin becomes "too thin" to be used comfortably. Reducing weight is good, but you need some bulk to hold on to when using it.
Why can't we have a higher DPI large format screen?
I agree. My iPad version 1 is only a year and a half old....but i noticed a severe increase in lag time lately. Things open and close slower. The browser takes forever loading pages. It started off subtley, but is much more apparent now. Still, i loves me iPad. Holding out for the 3 tho. Will skip the 2. The retina screen seems like the strongest rumor, and thats cool, but I hope the 3 gets more ram(at least 1 gig) and the A6 processor. A better camera would be nice, but not at the top of my wish list. A better battery to handle the faster processor and screen is more important.
Looking forward to this update.![]()
IGZO's higher resolution is of zero consequence in an Apple-made TV.
