I was able to trade in my phone in-store yesterday when I picked up my phone even though my order for in store pickup said they’d ship me a trade-in kit to ship the phone back. When purchasing the iPhone 14 Pro Max in Apple's website and selecting in-store pickup, and I select trade in for my iPhone 13 Pro Max, is the trade in of my old phone done at the store at the time I pick-up my iPhone 14 Pro, or do I have to mail it in?
I think you can. When I traded for my iPhone 11 PM, I just walked in and told the nice Apple guy that I wanted to trade my iPhone X for an iPhone 11 PM and he obliged. So if I don’t select trade in option on the online store pickup order for the new iPhone, can I just simply take my old iPhone with me when picking up my order, and then tell them I want to trade in the old device?
No you don't lock anything in. It specifically says the value given online may differ from what is given in store. My experience has been that it can depend on the store. Also keep in mind if you select trade in at the time of purchase you lock in the trade in value. If don’t select it and the trade in price drops before you turn it in, you only get that price. I would think the current prices will stay the same for a bit but wouldn’t wait too long especially if you have a popular trade in.
Yes that could be true, based on condition though you will get at least as much as the quote. When I have done this before in store Apple uses the same third party site to figure out that days trade in value for a particular model. If you select trade in (while making an online purchase) and the max value quoted is $400 and you turn in a phone that meets criteria required you will get $400. The third party that does these trade ins could drop that to $200 at any point. If you take it in to the store you will get the price for the quote that day, which could be the same or less (typically not more). No you don't lock anything in. If you are near a store, I would go in with your trade in. Within 14 days of purchase they can take the trade in as credit off the purchase price of the new product, after 14 days they issue only a gift card. At least this was my experience when I got a MacBook this summer. You could also check with Apple phone support and confirm.I selected trade in, saw all of the normal stuff about mailing in for credit (Did it for a 6 to 11 for my wife that I want to trade in) and now that she has the 14PM, nothing showing about trade in for credit. Only way it will let me do it is for a gift card.
I don't want a gift card and after this total, utter flustercluck of fulfillment via UPS will not be buying anything Apple. Apple has no sales support, so looks like I am screwed again by Apple. They really go out of their way to make occasional customers hate them.
Is this the case then if they quote your trade in price, and your old iPhone meets the criteria you get the quoted price as a minimum and that’s guaranteed?Yes that could be true, based on condition though you will get at least as much as the quote. Yes, if it meets the criteria you will get that amount as a maximum (less if condition is not as good). But totally agree when you mail it in, you are at the mercy of third party company for what condition they say your phone is in. So I prefer the in store trade in option as their eval is more reliable to get the full quoted amount for a clean, working phone. The 14 just came out so I doubt the trade in prices will drop in the next couple weeks but you never know. Take it in as soon as you can to be sure.Is this the case then if they quote your trade in price, and your old iPhone meets the criteria you get the quoted price as a minimum and that’s guaranteed?
The reason I ask is the pick up in store option isn’t available for me in the UK but trade in and delivery is for the trade box. But I am sceptical I’d still get the same price using the trade box and sending it in rather than going to the store?
Same here. Had my $430 credited back last Friday. Took 4 days from the time I shipped it until credit. Worked perfectly.I got my $770 deposited into my account yesterday from my trade with Apple. It has been seamless for the last 3 years!
