Apple isn't the only company that does this btw.I’m a bit tired of all this “censor” Apple applies to make everything so politically correct. I know this message is going to receive a lot of downvotes but this time I’ll understand it, because it is a controversial comment. Even if MR deletes it, yeah, I can understand.
That said, it feels certainly silly when I try to type (swiping) swearing words on iOS 14 and Apple has forbidden many words and pair of words to appear in the suggestions, thus, making it impossible to use those words by swiping, both in English and Spanish. It feels childish, at least let us disable it if we want! (There are people over 18yo using Apple devices too). And no, including those words into the dictionary no longer works like it did on iOS 13.
On the device engravings I can understand the decision to an extent. But with the iOS keyboard and other areas, I cannot get it.
😂 I had a nice one planned for my wife

Creative is one thing. If you use a poop emoji on A-tags in such a way to offend a person that finds your missing item, I don't think you want them to take it and throw it in a lake or a sewer if small enough. That would defeat the purpose right? Why would they include a happy poop emoji if they won't let us use it creatively?
I don't see the point, Apple.

This is the first product from Apple I want to engrave but I have no idea what to put on them.Forgetting "offensive" words/emojis. How many people are planning to engrave your airtags?
As other have mentioned there's no basic emojis for car, house, etc.
Same besides my initials, no clue. I was thinking of getting the 4 pack and just have one engraved...This is the first product from Apple I want to engrave but I have no idea what to put on them.
69 is also just a number. Maybe someone was born in 1969 and wants to put it.
But regardless, 69 does in fact work for engraving.
Seems like a waste to put it on a dog collarit seems like it is limited to 4 charactersI wanted to put my bitches 🐕 name on it for her collar.
It’s usually also Americans who have the bizarre notion that free speech/free expression has a purpose and that the concept of free speech is not a synonym for “whatever SCOTUS says that clause of the first amendment means right now”. Indeed in Council of Europe countries the right of free expression does restrict what Americans would consider first amendment rights of companies to protect people’s rights (mainly for employees, but the principle is there). You know you've found an American when they start talking about free speech without understanding that a private company not providing the specific option that you want doesn't come under free speach.
I have been in contact with the business side of Apple to do just that, it is very much a thing. I am getting a couple hundred. It would have been cool to see licensed logos (at a small price). Like if someone wanted to put a Ford logo or a Honda logo. Even better would be sports teams. I’m sure the 3rd party market will have options in the future.
No airtag required. Just talk to an attractive young lady and she'll show up . . .Shoulda put an air tag on her...
🦄 💩
They are the company making the product, ergo they can choose to allow it or not, that is THEIR freedom of speechFree expression? – Who is that company that they can tell me what I can write and what not? (Aside from technical limitations.)
Ultimately, however, you can also freely choose not to buy their products. What am i gonna do. Not only because of this one stupidity but because of many other of these made by Apple.
lolOr like, remove the 💩 emoji
And yet Apple virtue-signals at every opportunity they get.Apple does not want to be seen as suggesting anything offensive to their customer, same goes for knowingly engraving. That’s not an image they want for themselves and totally their choice not to want that.
First off, it's spelled "speech". Every time, not just the first time. You know you've found an American when they start talking about free speech without understanding that a private company not providing the specific option that you want doesn't come under free speach. But as long as we've got those freedumbs.
If anything, I'd put one on the local stray cat so I'll know when he's coming near. That way I'll have ample time to get the super-soaker reloaded. After a few times of that, maybe he becomes the neighbors' problem. This is 🐴💩. With all the animal emoji, I wonder how many will be using these to find their cat.
And serve the black customer, too.Bake the cake bigot...
I do feel that Apple should have final say.
When I said this isnt Apple I meant this isn't unique to Apple. Sorry if that wasn’t clear. This 100% is Apple. Just like it's 100% the DMV. Trying to conflate Apple's decisions with another entity to justify the restrictions doesn't make any sense at all. There are hundreds, probably thousands of companies that make decisions like this all the time. Those companies are responsible for their own decisions. Just like Apple. No one is forcing Apple to limit engraving and they could lift the prohibitions at any time... if they wanted to do so. This is Apple.
Correct!A bit more accurately, it isn't JUST Apple.![]()
You know you've found an idiot when they lump a bunch of unrelated individuals together and attach a label. You know you've found an American when they start talking about free speech without understanding that a private company not providing the specific option that you want doesn't come under free speach. But as long as we've got those freedumbs.
