Apple tries to trademark the word 'startup'

Here I was today thanking heavens I had a Mac and seriously considering keeping the last of my Mac stuff..

That application is in Australia.
Apple previously applied for the trademark in the USA back in April 2011.
The USA one is still winding its way through the process, but I did run across this photo included in their application, which is an example of what they want to use it for:

Why are you remotely worried about this. Companies trademark colours like orange, numbers like Peugeot 307 and word as odd as fish, golf, hmm Hoover or say Google all the time. Get over it. It doesn't mean anything. Move along.

what about kick-starter as a "startup"
Apple and kick-starter would have more fights than a midget.

a lot of times companies will submit something that is close to the actual name they want to use and see who comes out of the woodworks objecting or trying to sue
