Recruits Michael Scott to be Apple's First CEO...

I KNEW IT!!!!

It's refreshing to see the comments here regarding how Tim Cook is stagnating the company. Every time I bring that up in the forums the Apple apologists come out with their torches and pitch forks.

The reality is that Tim Cook doesn't have 1/10th the vision Steve Jobs had.

Wish my company did that.
Beer bashes are and old Silicon Valley tradition going back at least to the 50s. Comes from the keg tapping parties in colleges where new college graduates brought it in. Insurance for serving alcohol at company events is cheap and any good insurance broker can make it happen for a song.

Johy Ive has taken the helm of "Apple vision" from Steve Jobs. Was told he was the driving force on the look on the Apple Watch.

The first Apple product I ever purchased was the iPhone on June 29, 2007 and my life has never been the same.

Back then I was attending university to become a photographer. It was so much money, but I had been saving up for a long time while following the rumors on this site as a lurker. It was such an amazing little device. It helped me get my life organized. It connected me to a seemingly infinite amount of knowledge at all times. In later years it helped me easily connect and see my family members from across the country, including my wife when I would leave for months doing internships. The incredible design of the software pushed me to change to become a design major. I soon bought a MacBook Pro and dug deep into learning the many creative possibilities at my disposal. I became fascinated with UI design and crafting user-centered experiences. And today I'm a Web & App UI/UX Designer and love my job. Apple made a big impact on my life—as have many other things and people—but I'll always feel that in some small way, I owe a debt of gratitude to Jobs and Wozniak and what they started forty years ago. Thank you.

It's not round, fire Ive now! /s

My comments stand, not your interpretation of them.

And my comment stands. Those who think Tim Cook is the wrong guy to lead Apple...there's only one person to blame and that's Steve Jobs who recommended Cook succeed him as CEO. Trouble is Steve's dead so who's going to "fire" Tim and replace him with a "visionary"? The board? What cause would they have to do so?

just wondering why 666.66?

Wozniak has given slightly varying histories, but the gist is that with retail markup, the price came to about $667.

Jobs thought that repeating numbers made for better ad copy, so they made it $666.66.

However, looking at the negative effect that later iDevices have had on the social fabric of the world, most people now realize that it truly was the Number of the Beast  :D

Not sure what your problem is. I'm not calling for Cook's head on a pike, but I'm entitled to think he's wrong for the job. We're all entitled to opinions. Who are you to call out the opinions of others? I didn't ask for your feedback and I'm not asking your permission. End of conversation.

Yep, there is no 'reason' to replace him. He's not a bad CEO. He's a caretaker CEO. There probably 1000 other CEOs who could keep the train on the tracks, but very few that are going to effectively continue to innovate and grow into new areas. In the five years that Tim has been at the helm, what is his mark/legacy? It just feels like Apple is on cruise control.

Tim Cook isn't a vision guy. Tim Cook is an accountant, and he's probably not a good fit for the job. I'm willing to stipulate he has impeccable moral clarity, but I don't think he's product oriented per se.

I'd agree with all of this, and go one step further to say that it's bad for Apple in the long run that he's such a good numbers guy. He's making great decisions like buying Beats that will make them a ton of money. and he cuts corners in annoying ways that won't stop the average person from buying Apple, like 16GB iPhones and soldered RAM and 5400 RPM hard drives in $1500 computers. So Apple's new products are meh while the old ones are being made actively worse. And all the while he's turning out massive profits, so he's not going anywhere anytime soon.
