Macrumors, you actually s..k at headlines. It’s the russian gov requested to turn them off. Let’s not forget who is to blame here and who is the actor/opressor in the situation.
No reason to defend Apple. Apple is the only one that cares what the Russian government has to say. Google doesn't care anymore, since they're bankrupt.

Just an observation, but you could take your post and replace "Russia" and "Russian" with a certain other country ( quite a few in fact), and this would still be revenant.
Welcome to the USSA, y'all.
I don't disagree with your points necessarily, and given where I live, I'm obviously very strongly against The Russian EMpire/ USSR / Russian Federation (this has never changed in any real sense, expecting a short-lived "blip") but toxic nationalism / imperialism is not exclusive to Russia.
I see this a lot in were I live. The Deep South has more than our share of patriotic crazies.
Invading and annexing other countries for their natural resources or simply territory, but claiming it's being done for ideological reasons, is not as uncommon as we'd hope.
Greenland? Canada? Mexico? We could have been one big country.😑

I get what you are saying and trying to point out…

But this just reminds me about Tim Cook’s policy with dealing with foreign countries. You obey the local laws, but your also engage in conversation with these politicians and hopefully come to a mutual agreement.

Now, if Apple fully pulled out of Russia, what non-communist based phones would they have access to? Those communist phones would be much easier for the leaders to control.

While Apple could at a future date, or with a new feature, make it harder for communist Russia to spy on their own people.
There is that one lock down function on iPhone that makes it (nearly) impossible for bad actors to spy on journalists etc.

So I would much rather Apple stay and provide whatever services they can, even if it looks like a money grab, because Apple at the end of the day controls their own software can implement updates that provide safety.

Edit: side note - let’s say Russian has a regime change, just as Apple removed apps from the Russian App Store, Apple can disable this Russian spy software as well with a software push and remove it.

If Apple had any actual morals, they would set all iPhones geolocated in Russian occupied Ukraine to explode while in use.
The same case could be made for Americans that support their war hungry leader.

But what’s that going to fix? It’s not up to companies like Apple to fix world politics. It’s up to the people to vote for the right leaders.

This. Stop expecting corporations to solve your problems - that’s not their job. You pay elected politicians out of your tax contributions to solve your problems. That’s why they’re called “public servants” - they are paid to serve you, the public.

So demand your money’s worth from government and your elected representatives. If you expect a corporation to look after your civil interests, you’re deluded and you’re going to be disappointed. Because that’s simply not the function of corporations. Corporations have shareholders, they don’t have citizens.

Tell that to the Sudanese people.
As someone who has had relatives surviving the Holocaust, I find your post extremely offensive.
I dont care
Really? Israel hosted a secret meeting on the Wannsee & then proceeded to systematically slaughter millions of people?
yes, they have systematically slaughtered millions of people

Why stop there? Turn it off in the US as well. Heck, turn it off in all war hungry authoritarian dictatorships.

Especially where people were stupid enough to vote their dictator into power.

See what I did there?? What’s that going to solve.
I agree !! TURN THEM OFF !!!

The mains difference is that whatever ginger pedo is saying, Greenland, Canada and Mexico are not invaded. As opposed to Ukraine.

That is just some deranged grandpa being "great", but russians are killing people in hundreds of thousands.

Death rates across the Middle East as a whole are not close to Ukraine War levels yet, but they’re not insignificant.

IMO, nuking russia would be much more productive.
No, by the very definition of the word, it would not be productive. It would be destructive.

It would only seem like a good idea if you completely ignore that there will be a next day, and a next day, and a next day. The repercussions would outweigh any short-term gains.

Which is exactly what we’re seeing in the Middle East right now.

Russia isn’t going anywhere. What you want is the structures running the country to wither and die. What you don’t want to do is to create martyrs.

Nuking Russia is the very best way to get the majority of the planet ( and the majority of the planet is NOT “the West”) to side with Russia.

I guess one is a headline and one is a "TLDR Headline" for people who don't care to read the article, where said clarity is found. For people reading the article, there is nothing wrong with the headline.
One is a misleading headline and one is an accurate headline. The headline is misleading with or without the article. That's what's wrong with the headline.

I’m not defending Apple. They don’t need that.
All I’m saying that we have to remember that it’s done by russian failed state.
