I can't imagine Apple not having a low-cost option for keeping customers in the Apple services loop while on the couch.

Perhaps a cheaper "streaming-only" product is on the way, more in line with Google's Chromecast or Amazon's FireTV stick? Thoughts?

Poor poor decision given the number of schools and businesses who use these things as Airplay conference room displays.

When has Apple ever produced a "low-cost option" for anything? Apple is a premium personal electronics company. They don't go after the "cheap" end of the market. They leave that to companies like Dell, HP and, frankly, Amazon. So it's not a poor decision on Apple's part since they are going after "profit share" rather than "market share."

By "low cost", I mean relative to Apple. i.e.; in-line with a $69 entry-level version of the ATV.
