Zellio macrumors 65816 Original poster Oct 1, 2013 #1 I have an Apple tv 3 connected via hdmi, and I can't get my 5.1 to work. I have a digital cable that goes to the tv, anything connected via hdmi works immediately with 5.1 (If it's compatible). So am I missing something here? Setting, etc?

W waw74 macrumors 601 Oct 1, 2013 #2 there is a setting in settings -> audio (not at mine right now so i can't say the exact wording) if you're going appleTV --HDMI--> Television --HDMI/toslink--> receiver a lot of times TVs don't pass 5.1 what are you using to test 5.1?(netflix, itunes video, etc) how are you verifying that it's not 5.1?

Zellio macrumors 65816 Original poster Oct 1, 2013 #3 netflix doesn't play 5.1, and it plays 5.1 on ps3. On my setup, ps3, xbox 360, and directv work in 5.1. Wii u and Atv 3 doesn't.
