Hello!
My partner and I have an Apple TV 3rd gen (bare with me - He is currently in Abu Dhabi WITH said Apple TV and I am back home in Australia trying to help out with the problem) and the remote has stopped working.

I have got him to try to re pair it - nope.
Got him to purchase new battery, then re pair - nope.
Got him to purchase new remote - silly thing bought the siri remote, not compatible!

So I have ordered him a new remote (one that is compatible haha) from Apple and i'm HOPING that will fix the issue.

As I am the tech person who solves all these issues... if the new remote doesn't work, does anyone have any suggestions? Have tried to get him to install the remote app on his ipad to use in the interim, but as the Apple TV is set up with a VPN its not technically on the same network, so that doesn't work either.

He can airplay from ipad to apple tv, so the apple tv itself is working.

Any suggestions would be great.

Can't really diagnose your problem from here, but I just replaced the remotes on my two Apple TV 3's since the buttons weren't working well, they cost $19 USD each from Apple's online store. The replacements work great, although I found the setup procedure (as described on Apple site) confusing.

So if the new remote you bought still doesn't work, it may be time to get a replacement AppleTV.

All been sorted now. Thank you!

The replacement remote did the trick! (old one was probably dropped a few too many times on its head haha)
