Apple TV 4 remote not working

My ATV 4 works fine with the app on my phone but suddenly the remote is not working. I charged it for several hours. I unpaired it. I then put it an inch from the ATV and pressed the menu and + button. Nothing. I looked under settings Bluetooth and don’t see it. It seems I have done what Apple support pages show.

Anything else?

just to clarify, it is a press and hold 2-3 seconds on those buttons,

have you hard rebooted the aTV (unplug power for 10 seconds, and plug back in)

are you able to pair any other bluetooth devices with the aTV?
like speakers or headphones.
This might help narrow down if problem is aTV or remote.


if that doesn't work, sounds like it might be dead,
if there's an apple store close, set up a genius appointment,

The remote was broken. I replaced it and all is fine.
