Had this with my old AVR and now with the new.
The Apple TV takes the name of the tv HDMI2 input the AVR is connected to even when a different source is chosen.
The CEC is off on all bar the tv (enabling eARC turns Simplink back on if off).

Turning anything on turns on the Apple Tv too which then takes over the naming. Annoying.

Anyone had this problem and no a solution?

Thanks.

CEC is a badly implemented standard, that is sure.
But what do you mean by that statement?
On my system, when I turn on anything else, but appleTV, no other sources will be turned on.
When I turn on TV, only TV and AVR are turned on (because I've said to use Audio System instead of TV speakers).
When I turn on the blu-ray player, aTV will not be turned on, only the TV and AVR.
But as I said, CEC implementations vary across manufacturers.

For instance I use a Harmony and if I start an Activity to start Sky, it'll turn on the Sky, TV & AVR and sometimes the AppleTV also will turn on. Then even though Sky is on the tv the HDMI notification shows as Apple Tv 4K. And also when I go into the tv's source menu it shows as Apple Tv 4K even though Sky is the source on the AVR going to the tv.

The Apple Tv's CEC is off but for some reason it starts up when something else comes on and dominates the TV's HDMI label even when it's not the playing source.

AFAIK Harmony is not using CEC, right?
If your last source was aTV, when turning off the TV and AVR, then I suppose it should also wake aTV upon next power up?
On my system aTV is powered up by TV only if I select it from among CEC sources.
My AVR never powers on any signal sources. I guess. Will double-check.

Yeah, is best to have all CEC of with a Harmony.
I need to check to make sure the power options on the Harmony for the ATV are off.

Fixed it!

Decided to try and remove the pin on the HDMI that controls CEC, pin 13.
I had a very short HDMI extender so (painstakingly) removed the contact for pin 13 on the female end as almost impossible on the male end.

Worked great, the TV's HDMI 2 label always shows what I labeled it as and No longer gets changed to Apple Tv.

You can get CEC blocking adapters quite cheap if you don't want to ruin a cable (or extender).
