I have an Apple TV 4k with the latest update. When put the any movie in pause for a few minutes and start playing it again, movies automatically rewind back several minutes. This issue started when tvOS 12 came out. I even restored my Apple TV 4k back to factory settings and it still does the same thing. Is this issue known?

Maybe the Apple TV is trying to “be kind”?

I noticed a few new bugs since tvOS 12, hopefully they will be fix with the new update.

If I do not press down on the remote bang on square I can FF or REW. That perhaps? Slight swipe of the clicker instead of a direct press? Sensitivity issue?

Glad I’m not the only one noticing this. First couple of time I thought I’d accidentally hit the pad part when pressing the play button. Until after about the 5th time, bloody annoying and quite random as to when it does it, and how far it goes back. I guess one plus is it rewinds and now goes forward.

I see this behaviour, but I'd say it jumps back several seconds, not minutes.
I think it clears its decoding buffer(s) and hence needs to seek backwards to first I-frame it can find to start decoding again.
The effect may be more prominent on HEVC encoded material.

But, never had this before prior to tvOS 12. And yes we've seen it jump back several minutes, and even to the start of 30 minutes into a program.

same here, it's new since 12 came out

mine's normally a few seconds, but gland to know i'm not going crazy
might have been more than a few seconds once or twice.
