I don’t think a 65” TV is large enough to see the benefit of a 4K resolution.
Ideally you need an 80+” diisplay and should be sitting aroun 4-6feet from it.
WRONG!

Quick Start was On so I'm good there. Maybe I was just asking for too much with this device. Don't get me wrong, certain content looks stunning but I can see why it won't be up to par with discs. I've been enjoying my Ultra HD Blu Ray player instead, man now that looks amazing. I'll just use the ATV for iTunes rentals and certain movies that I can't find on disc.
I think I was just tripping, I started watching my ATV again and looks amazing now. I did switch to chroma 4.2.2 so maybe that had something to do with it. Everything looks clean and prestige especially apps like HBO GO, etc.

Haha maybe not tripping buddy! It was the Christmas period where maybe everyone was streaming HD TV. In the UK, Virgin broadband goes super slow in stress were the are many customers between 7pm - 11pm so it's possible that it was your broadband that was causing your ATV to run at a low res!
Plus, some of the Hollywood films are not great in quality and for that, Apple has no control over - they are at the end of the day, an on line 'shop' they merely distribute the film - no matter how 'God like' they sometimes like to think they areOffice Christmas Party is an example were the picture was very good but the sound very compressed. Another example - today, I saw Purple Rain (Prince) a nice clean HD copy from iTunes but the sound was so disappointing - compressed and so quiet - even on maximum volume. Whereas, last night's 'Moonlight' sparkled in everyway both in picture and sound quality.
Really glad that you're enjoying it!

That sounds understandable lol. Yea I'm really enjoying it and taking full advantage of it. Of course I still enjoy my 4K blu ray player better in regards to quality but my ATV definitely does the job it has to do. I just wish every content on iTunes was in HDR for the movies but 4K is good enough for me.
In all fairness, I think you ATV will be around a lot longer than your 4K BluRay player! This Christmas here in the UK, I'm not evening seeing some films make it to BluRay let alone 4K BluRay. Some not even DVD!!! Looking at 2018 players from Panasonic etc, I can see that even the manufacturers have lost interest. It's now 2 years old which in media terms is the equivalent to 100 yearsand it's just the mainstream hollywood films that are even making it to the 4k disc format.
That is so true, there's seriously only a handful of 4k blu ray movies to purchase and the majority are like you said, the Hollywood blockbuster hits. I could literally find almost anything I want on iTunes but some are only on HD instead of 4K but I'm sure the quality will still be good with the ATV. To be honest, my main attentions was only to use my ATV but during xmas, my father bought the 4k blu ray player for me as well on top of the ATV my fiancé got for me lol.
WOW!!! What a great Christmas you had!!! Top guy! Being honest, the ATV does a great job of upscaling HD iTunes content to 4k. I've never ever been disappointed in a HD iTunes film for picture quality. I buy a lot of independent film maker Surfing films and they are only released as downloads - iTunes or Vimeo and never make it to DVD.
I bought 'Paris Can Wait' (SONY Pictures December release) and here in the UK it hasn't even made it to DVD let alone BluRay but it made it instantly to iTunes in HD
I only have my 4K BluRay player to play discs that are not available on iTunes - Wild Style, Breakin' (both Breakdance films from the 1980s), Studio 54, The Rebound (WAS on iTunes BUT got removed in 2015!!!) and The Talented Mr Ripley. But in all fairness, only the break dance discs have been played since I got the player. Tried filling out a form to ask iTunes to consider adding them to their catalogue but it's a total waste of time dealing with Apple.
Dude, excellent choice on Breakin' and Electric Boogaloo; awesome classics!!! Were you actually able to find those films on 4k? If so, I'm going for the hunt tonight lol. I only have Breakin' on DVD!!!!
HA QUALITY!!! Breakin and Breakin 2 are available on Blu-Ray on Amazon - Wild Style 30th Anniversary is on iTunes USA in HD!!!!! YES I'M SO JEALOUS! Tried Emailing the film company and Wild Style asking to put them in UK iTunes but they never replied :'(
They were all very low budget films so I guess that they'll never get the 4K HDR treatment.
Breakin' was in iTunes in HD in the USA Store but i notice that it is not longer listed.
I grew up with Breakin' (BREAKDANCE THE MOVIE it was called here in the UK) AMAZINGBEAT STREET is ANOTHER CLASIC and it's in HD on iTUNES and CRUSH GROVE is another (IN HD) which is great too on iTunes.
I can 100% recommend the book 'Hip Hop Raised Me' if you love breaking' - some great photos in it. The cover is a Technics SL1200!!! Brilliant read! I got it for Christmas![]()
You're welcome buddy. I'm the expert on breakdancing. A couple of years ago, I trained at my university gym, I made friends with some students from Paris and they were breakdancers - they travelled as far as Japan break dancing!!! They nearly fainted when they saw my lifetime breakdancing music collection in my iTunes - of course I just had to give them copiesHaha you're awesome Paul!!! Yea just checked iTunes and sadly Breakin' isn't on there but will be downloading Wild Style when I get home lol. And thanks for the recommendation on "Hip Hop Raised Me," I'll look into it.
