I just bought a new AV receiver to go with my ATV4K, going into an LG 65” OLED. No matter what I do, the Apple TV keeps changing my receivers input to TV, even while the ATV is sleeping, and does it while I’m in the middle of watching something on another input. It does this continuously - after I manually switch input, within a few minutes it switches back to the TV input again. I have both HDMI-CEC settings (controlling the TV/receiver and the volume control) disabled on the ATV. It seems to totally ignore this setting, as when I change my receivers input to the ATV, the ATV will turn itself on even with CEC off.

The only way to get rid of this problem is turn off CEC on the TV, or leave the ATV unplugged. I can’t disable CEC as it is required for the ARC back to the receiver to get sound from the TV apps. It is no doubt caused by the ATV4K as this never happens while the ATV is unplugged.

I did some searching online before asking here. Some have complaint about this since last year. The only suggestion posted was to disable CEC on the TV itself which I already figured out for myself and is not an acceptable workaround for me. Has anyone here seen this issue with your own setup? Any other workaround?

Another workaround? CEC-less HDMI cable or adaptor.

I had to plug it between my Motorola/Arris VIP1113 IPTV box (their CEC implementation is another disaster) and AVR, since then also appleTV is playing nice with CEC.
Thanks. Might be onto something here.. I have cables that don't put my PC monitor to sleep when the PC is off. Those cables might not have all the necessary pins for CEC. I will give those cables a try, though it'll be interesting to see if it will still pass 4K and Dolby Vision.
