The AppeTV *does* power on the TV - so clearly HDMI-CEC is working: cable, and CEC settings in aTV and LED activated. It also *can* change the volume. Since tvOS26 update, the aTV *cannot* power off the TV.

This was working before (tvos16, 17, 18)= aTV and LED turn off at the same time (the TV indicator changes from blue to red). The TV is about 7 or 8 years old, and it was always working. Now the aTV goes to sleep (as always), and the TV shows a "no signal" until about 15 mins later it auto-powers off. Really a frigging eye-sore.

I never use the TV remote (just once for setup 8 years ago) - in fact batteries removed - so there is no way the Gremlins changed the CEC setting. And with tvOS26 there is just a "Home Theater" - "Turn On TV" setting; but turn off was removed.

Thanks Apple!

My TVs have never, ever, turned off when the Apple TV goes into automatic sleep. My TVs have always been LG OLEDs just for information. I’m not saying yours has never been behaved like you are suggesting, but from my perspective, that’s how it is for me.

If I long press the power button on the Siri remote that will turn off both the TV and the Apple TV of course.

I have heard of this happening on older TVs (you didn't mention your model). Here are a few things to try:

1. Turn CEC off on the AppleTV. Wait about 15 seconds, then turn it back on. This rebuilds the CEC routing table.

2. Turn CEC off on your TV. Wait 15-30 seconds, then turn it back on.

3. If that doesn't work, shut down and unplug both devices. Wait a few minutes. Then plug the TV in first and let it boot. After it boots, plug in the AppleTV.

4. If your TV has a second CEC port, try it.

5. Make sure your TV settings have not changed. Look for separate options like "Auto Power Off", "CEC Power Off", "Device Auto Power Off", or similar. Make sure the TV allows external devices (like Apple TV) to turn it off.
