Hi,

Just got an Apple TV 4K, and watching Netflix now. Unfortunately the Apple TV puts the subtitles too high in the picture, which makes the subtitles very intrusive and annoying. I've gone through the Apple TV settings, and I can't find any way to fix this.

Does really Apple force its users to accept this subtitles placement, with no adjustment ability? This makes the subtitles function near useless.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Can you take a photo to illustrate as I watch a lot of foreign film from iTunes an the Apple subs with the black background look outstanding and beautiful. There are many size options in the settings maybe the setting is wrong?
Same with the Mac were you can adjust size, typeface, backdrop colour, opacity etc.

This is with small text to make the subtitles as little annoying as possible, but the placement is completely off. There is no way afaik to adjust subtitles placement.

I haven’t found a way to adjust subtitles in the Netflix app on the  tv either. The settings app has only effect on iTunes movies and tv shows. You can adjust font, size, style etc. but not height. This won’t effect the Netflix app, however.
Even when you adjust the subtitles in your Netflix account on a browser, this only has effect on maybe the android app on your tv but not the  tv... annoying.

You would think that subtitles placement would be an obvious thing to get right, it's certainly one of the most basic things. I guess it's time to send another bug rapport to Apple. Sigh...

I also wish subtitle position can be adjust by our self.

Apple please implement this. I prefer put subtitle at bottom especially at the black bar area if the movie is 2:35 ratio.

Thanks very much for the Subler solution guys. It’s been driving me nuts for ages.
very grateful for the help. 🙏

Each app does its own thing as far as subtitles. The worst I've seen so far on the ATV 4K are in the Britbox app. They are way too small, too light colored, and have no outline, so they often are not readable. But this has nothing to do with Apple. It is an issue you must take up with the owner of each app that has bad subtitles. I do wish Apple would force a subtitle format on the apps, then we could have better control. Most TVs force the format, but Apple doesn't.

I believe this has to be done prior to the decoder, and that is only with certain types of subtitle formats.

You can adjust the subtitles from Netflix.com (your account, your username, Subtitle appearance), size, color, font, etc but I dont see placement. And I thought it used to be a setting. Send a bug report to netflix they've almost got it.
