My Hulu (and some new iTunes programs) content is suddenly only playing stereo through my front left and right speakers, not surround. It’s very frustrating. I’ve tried everything on my receiver and ATV, to no avail. I’ve changed nothing. I looked at the Hulu support page, and now ATV isn’t listed as a supported device for Dolby 5.1?! How can that be??? Anyone else having this problem?

Hulu never supported 5.1. It’s always been stereo. Try Netflix or iTunes movies.

I must be going nuts, because I've had Hulu for nearly 2 years, and I know the sound quality diminished in the past week or so. Trouble shot every other app on ATV4K, and it all comes through. Oh well.

Hulu has supported 5.1 for years. Originally it was Dolby Digital then a while back they (and most other online streaming) switched to Dolby Digital Plus. Some receivers aren't compatible with DD+ and end up switching to the stereo audio track but that's probably not the issue if it just switched to stereo very recently.

The hulu app on the ATV does not support 5.1

That's weird, I wonder why apple and Hulu never worked that out.
