Apple TV and Movies

I‘ve purchased many movies from iTunes and view them on Apple TV.

My goal is to download and store all my purchased movies locally.
Then watch them on Apple TV from my local storage.

Is this possible?
If so, how do I accomplish it?

But i think that you can only download the movie in 1080p even though you have a 4k movie.

Set up Home Sharing. Then you can watch your downloaded, locally stored movies, via the Computers app on your Apple TV.

Thank you all for the help and apologize to drag this out.

At home all I have are iPads.

I assume the easiest approach would be to buy an Apple laptop to serve from?
Should I buy lots of onboard storage or what do you suggest to store the movies on?
I’m guessing I have about 100 movies.

You can store the movies on anything- internal or external storage. I have all of mine stored on an external drive.

And any old Mac or PC will do if they can run a fairly modern incarnation of iTunes or AppleTV (app).

PC will likely be cheaper and external storage for your 100 movies will likely be cheaper than buying more storage inside. I suggest getting considerably more storage than you need for the 100... so you have plenty of room to download and store more movies as you move through time.
