With a closed platform there are less points where a virus/worm could get an entry point into the system. Vector is the "real" usage in computer viruses/worms.

I have been waiting for a device with reasonable storage, WiFi, HDMI and a simplified UI that can be operated without a keyboard and is "chunky" enough to see at a distance. The only reservation that I have is the choice of 40 GB storage.

I've not experienced issues with the 40 gig drive yet. I have sync'd only my iTunes music library (about 18 gigs) and stream movies and TV shows. I haven't seen any dropped frames (at 720 x 540, 1500 bitrate) from my AEBSn, but when (if?) HD files become available I'm not so sure if streaming will be suitable. I wonder if 802.11n can adequetely stream a 720p file? If it does become necessary to put a larger drive in, it sure seems easy enough from what I've seen on the 'net. Plus, the 2.5" drives have really dropped in price over the last year or two.

Errr.. for whatever reason they've chosen to disable the fire (that runs by default with no deny rules) is beyond me. That really appears to be an exercise in futility...

Look at the other instructions "out there" for setting up SSHD. None of them disable the firewall. 🙄

For biological viruses the term's use would be appropriate. Otherwise it's a real stretch...

I'd referred to tcp/udp ports. When you replied to my post regarding "ports" I assumed you were speaking of the type "ports" I'd spoken of earlier. At any rate "ports" is a vague term. It helps to speak in exact terms.

At any rate: Apple TV has two ethernet ports -- one wireless and one wired. Thus, I had no idea of what your were (incorrectly) referring to...
