I have yet to find anything interesting on Apple TV. It really sucks if you want to be entertained and not explained why you are a horrible human.
So are you saying the mere existence bothers you? I ask because last I check, there were no requirements for you to actually watch specific programming. You could easily click on something else and save the angst for a more deserving issue.

Here’s my opinion. Apple TV is too narrowly focused. The shows that they have generally get good reviews, but they all are very similar. If you like or don’t like one you probably will feel the same about most of them. I’ve probably watched fewer than 10 shows/movies in the year and a few months that I have had a subscription. And the only reason is because I bought an Apple product and got free year, which has now expanded to a free year and 1/2. I watched the Wolfwalker animation, and the Tom Hanks destroyer WW2 movie, and the first episode of some of their series. Wolfwalker was good, Tom Hanks movie was ok, but none of the series caught my attention. I know people that like some of them so I can’t say that they are bad I’m just not attracted to them. And to me, they all have the same ’feel’ so I don’t watch multiple episodes (which people tell me I should because “it gets better “) because I didn’t watch those types of shows on network or streaming services in the past, and many of Apple’s shows are produced by the people whose shows I didn’t particularly care for then.
The problem with Apple is that they care too much about their image as a brand and not offend a specific group of people. HBO produced Game of Thrones and didnt care it had too much violence, nudity, incest, etc or the fact it was not diverse enough. Apple's filter on content is what blocking this service from growing and attracting audience. Most of the shows are boring. Even the comedies are not funny. Tom Hanks' movie was good, but Apple didnt play any role in this movie, they just bought the rights. People like interesting documentaries, good horror movies, badass action movies and thrillers.

Im not referring to what she does in general, but to her collaboration with Apple in particular. It is pointless. It is pure marketing. Apple should focus on creating REAL entertaining content, grow it revenue from Apple TV+ and then donate whatever they want to charity to promote education in less developed countries. Creating inspiring dramas and documentaries on this topic, does not help, but only create activists, and not critically thinking young individuals.
Nonsense. Inspiration for critical thinking can come from many avenues, including entertainment. Your bent seems to hinge on "I don't like this type of programming so Apple should work on other stuff." Which ignores the fact that Apple has been, is, and will continue working on other stuff too. A blanket statement like "this doesn't help" is kinda myopic. It may not help you, but that isn't an indication that it doesn't help. Apple can donate whatever they want to charity and create content like this. It's not a binary proposition. You could simply avail yourself of their other offerings and be unaffected by their partnership with Yousafzai.

Have you actually watched anything on Apple TV+? Because this tired argument is disproven by See, Servant and Defending Jacob alone. Specifically, See is full of bloodshed and nudity similar to Game of Thrones.

She took a bullet for what she believes in.

In a lot of places, they pin a medal on you for that. She's one tough cookie.

Even after they shot her in the head for pursuing an education, and numerous death threats she kept at it.

If you want to see a picture definition of having a brass set, I think this is it.

Your comment was not aimed at me, but it could be. I care because I like Apple and I’d like there to be more options with streaming. But I don’t need to have a series to know that politics is complicated and seldom back and white. I can turn on the news or read a paper or magazine (either online or physical) or radio or any number of online sites. I’m not looking for that, it completely surrounds me and I’m looking for a temporary escape to get away from the things many shows, and not just Apple TV shows, feel compelled to drive home the point that simple choices can have complex consequences. And that many politicians are unethical liars, others are caught between a rock and a hard place, and most people can’t control their own destiny. If watching such shows would help fix the problem then fine, I’ll watch but don’t ask me to like it. But watching DOESN’T fix reality, and it does depress me intensely, for no apparent benefit.

horrible humans should have to explain why they are horrible. And they should have to watch Apple TV. Lol!

I give up. Social media is too toxic anymore and there’s no point engaging anywhere anymore, not just this place. Deleted my original post.

I hold Malala in the highest regard. She's a real role model and inspiration to all girls who have no right to education, and a true hero for standing up for women's rights. I really hope she can bring change to the world by putting the right to education on the agenda of world leaders. She makes me feel bad for being a man, thinking of all evil men that keep women out of education for their own horrible gain.
That said, I find it disgusting that Apple wants to profit off her good name. Apples supports her fund, but obviously, it came at a price. What possible effect could "entertainment" on Apple TV+ have on the dire situation of oppressed women? Apple is a brand of devices that most people in poor development countries can only dream of seeing in person (if they even know they exist). It's not like girls forced to work hard from a young age will see Malala's shows on AppleTV+ and rise against their oppressors. No, this is just yet another "great" publicity stunt to build the Apple brand. If the next Apple event would be "in person", I would love to be there and throw eggs and tomatoes on Tim when he announces this. Yuck!

Apple today announced it has reached a multiyear TV+ programming partnership with Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai that will involve inspiring dramas, comedies, documentaries, animation, and children's series.

"I believe in the power of stories to bring families together, forge friendships, build movements, and inspire children to dream," said Malala Yousafzai. "And I couldn't ask for a better partner than Apple to help bring these stories to life. I'm grateful for the opportunity to support women, young people, writers, and artists in reflecting the world as they see it."

Malala is a Pakistani activist known for her best-selling memoir, "I Am Malala," which she published at age 16. She also founded the Malala Fund to advocate for every girl's right to safe, free, and quality education around the world. In 2018, Apple became the Malala Fund's first Laureate partner, supporting the organization's work in eight countries where girls face significant education challenges.

I appreciate what Apple is doing here, and with many of their other content partnerships, but they're at a real risk of painting themselves into a "woke" corner with Apple TV+. Might as well just keep the service free and have it serve a PBS-like function with bettering the world as its mission statement
By "woke" do me aware of the plight of marginalized people around the world?
I'll chose a woke company every time.

Help me with your logic. There are two entities in this partnership. One you hold in the highest regard, and the other -in the same partnership- you find disgusting because they [checks notes] will profit off her good name? Won't she figuratively profit off her good name with the increased notoriety of being a content provider on Apple's service and literally profit by getting paid? One is good and the other is somehow bad? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

There seems to be a fundamental failure of understanding in this thread. Shows from this partnership aren't about views from the underprivileged people in developing countries. They are about shining a spotlight and possibly making more people aware of what's going on with people in developing countries. Through that awareness, more people who have means could get involved. I think it's likely they will.

Quick example of spotlight benefitting the misfortunate. Hurricane Harvey devastated the Houston area. NFL Player JJ Watt wanted to contribute to mitigating the fallout. He donated $100K with the goal of raising a total of $200K. His notoriety and reach allowed him to raise just a little bit more than the $200K goal. Just a l'il bit. ;) Probably wouldn't have happened if hee wasn't who he was. Apple's notoriety and reach may help Yousafzai gain access to more who want to help with funding but actionable programs as well. Disgusting? Yeah, not really getting that vibe.
