I have long looked for a Movies equivalent to Photos on macOS and have finally found it. I can sync photos across my devices but haven't been able to do the same for my own Home Movies. Well I could have but........ they would only get lost in a large Photos Library with hundreds of random clips.
So I experimented with the new Apple TV App and found a route through which is seamless. First I changed the location, in preferences, of where movies get copied to, to my a folder on my iCloud Drive, I pay for extra.
Now when I add a new Home Movie to the App on the Mac directly from iMovie or FCPX, it instantly becomes available on my iPad, iPhone.
That is, for me, fantastic.
