Apple TV App Experiencing Outage [Updated: Fixed]

The Apple TV app, the Apple TV+ streaming service, and the Apple TV channels feature appear to be experiencing an outage at this time, with Apple's System Status page reflecting an issue that began at 5:13 p.m. Pacific Time.

The TV app on the Apple TV and on iOS devices is not functioning properly, and for some users, is showing no content except for TV shows and movies that have been purchased and are available in the Library.

Update: Apple's System Status page indicates the Apple TV+ outage has been resolved.

I experience outrage too, every time I turn on the dumb TV...

Maybe it's due to Apple TV+ service servers being unable to handle the enormous surge of new subscribers who are dumping Netflix because of their password sharing crackdown.

Oh, who am I kidding. This is just Apple being Apple with their monthly outages. 🤣

We had 3 last month (1, 2, 3) which means we were way overdue for this one.

This have anything to do with iMessage going down just now? Probably just a 16.3 thing? I had to do 2 reboots to get anything to work on my phone just now and it couldn’t have happened at a worse time of the day!!

That's a LOT of online services to be managing and keeping operational. I'd say their uptime is pretty darn good!

Similar story with me and Nintendo's online services. I don't use it often, but it feels like whenever I do, their server is down for maintenance

Chances are it had nothing to do with your phone. People think the Internet is this "magic thing" when in fact it's a complex network of things.

You --> WiFi Router --> Modem --> Internet Provider network (with many hops) --> More hops --> Apple Servers

A problem anywhere along this route can interrupt your connection. The internet is designed to be self-healing, in that it will route "around" issues in most cases, but there are still points where a broken connection stops everything.

Checked and it's still down for me (West coast) though the Watch Now, Apple TV+, and Store tabs are back. It was only showing Library earlier.

Mine still down in Virginia in my Apple TV (just before 4k version). Reddit and Down Detector both had posts when I wondered what was going on.

Developers cannot do anything to manage or upload apps right now.

What I like about Apple TV+ is that Apple seems to finish what they start, shows don't get cancelled without their stories being resolved. It disrespects our time when a streamer hypes up a show then cancels it before it ends.
