Hi

I'm having issues where the wrong aspect ratio is displayed when watching content from the internal Apple TV app on my LG oled.

One example was Greyhound, which displayed in full screen so it looked stretched.

The solution was to exit movie and then resume which corrected the aspect ratio with letterbox bars.

Now I have seen this mentioned elsewhere with the app on a LG CX and LG C9 so far.

I have my aspect ratio set to original/just scan on.

I believe this is a bug.

Has anyone else encountered this, I have submitted a bug report but is there a better way to get a response form Apple that they may be aware of this?

Thanks

You can try to chat with Apple online. I can’t remember if they require a serial # from a device to start a chat. They definitely do for phone calls. I doubt the LG would qualify, just having the app.

You don’t have an Apple TV device?

Hi

Yes do have the apple 4k box but I prefer to use internal apps now. I chatted to someone via apple chat, and they said they would forward the info on to relevant team. I also filled out a bug/feedback report.

I just looked at mine, also a CX

my aspect ratio settings were also set to original/just scan, and it was also stretched taller to make it fit the screen

all I did was go in and change the aspect ratio to another setting, and went back to "original", and now it seems to be fine. I even force quit the app after it was working, and the movie came back with the correct ratio.

I've found a couple times with various things have an update, a setting will get cleared in the background, and even though it looks like it's still set as it should be, it really isn't.

Thanks, someone else mentioned similar elsewhere, I will try this next time. Hopefully Apple/LG fix this bug in future updates though, so it doesn't happen at all.

This thread is about the appleTV+ app on LG TVs. It's not related to the appleTV device at all

if you do have an LG TV, it's right there on the main picture settings screen.
