Apple TV App vs Provider App

Advantages and Disadvantages of signing up for a streaming service via the Apple TV app or using the standalone providers app. Paramount+ for instance. I will be using an Apple TV if matters.
 
I always sign up directly with the provider if the provider is offering some sort of promo like Paramount+ did through Sportsline.
