Yes. Although I do know that MLB offers a free game of the day during the season. Some of the other features, like Daily Highlights, are available without a subscription. (NOTE - I think you still need to create an account on MLB.com .. but it's a free account)

I think the NBA highlights are free as well. Not sure if they have any free games.

I'd guess NHL functions similarly.

I don;t know about NFL, but NBA and MLB you need subscriptions to watch the games, Spring training and highlights are free.

You need to subscribe to NHL's Gamecenter Live to watch live games. Same for NBA and MLB.
