It seems like more than enough do I have to reboot my ATV 4 (more than the ATV 3) because it wont load a video, or something of this nature and rebooting fixes the problem for 2-4 weeks until I have to reboot again. This is a bug in the ATV OS. Anyone else experiencing this on the ATV 4?

No. I rarely have to restart. The last time I did it was in December.

These bugs come and go on the tvOS, and it used to be a lot worse.

I have all generations of the ATVs, and it seems that the ATV4 is the worse of them when it comes to bugs. I am not sure why....

The ATV3 is rock solid, the ATV4K is pretty good, and rarely have to restart.

But for what ever reason, the ATV4 needs a restart on at least a weekly basis. Maybe it is the under powered A8....

Maybe, but my tv is a 4th gen that I’ve had since launch.

Actually, I think you were asking people's advice on what ATV to get on a MR thread prior to you getting your ATV4, IIRC.

I am pretty sure I suggested getting the ATV4K over the ATV4 due to issues like the one you are describing.

I don't doubt your experience.

One thing that I have observed over the passed 5ish years is the growing range of user experiences of Apple product users. It would make sense if it was different devices and on the same SW, but it is happening with the same devices too. Also, this is not just happening on the ATV, but all Apple's devices.

I am not sure if it is slight HW differences at a component level, or maybe how the users differ in how the devices are used. But there does seem to be a large range of experiences from people stating that some patches are perfect to unusable.

I agree with you there. I’m “hard” on my tv. I’m a cord cutter and I watch like 8-10hrs of tv a day. The tv is the only streaming device I have. I rarely watch on my iMac unless I’m working. I’ve had issues with tv in the past. An update bricked my tv 3. But my 4th gen has been solid. I only had to reset to factory settings once and that was back in 2016. My only real complaint is that the daytime screensavers play at night and vice versa.

But I do think QC is slipping a bit. I had an issue with my iMac that took years to resolve.

I use the DirecTV Now app 75% of the time, daily. The rest split between YouTube, VLC, and PBS.

I rarely have to reboot my ATV4. Most of the time, it's because the DTVN misbehaves. Otherwise, I do so periodically as a sort of maintenance procedure.

All told, it's been more solid than I expected it to be. I hate the Siri remote, but its battery life has been excellent as well.

Hey, me too! Well, about a year for me.

My Late 2012 27" iMac had a bad Fusion Drive that Apple just refused to fix under the Apple Care because it kept passing their HW Diagnostic Test. Eventually, the drive totally failed to the point that the iMac wouldn't even boot into internet recovery mode nor their HW diagnostic tool.

I would agree, and would add that I think it is slipping a lot.

I have used Apple products for a very long time, but I have never had to call Apple Support as much as I have in the past 5ish years.

Actually, I called them more in 2015 than I have the previous 20 years combined.

I’ve only had to call 5 times. I’m been  owner since 2008. Once for an iTunes issue. Then a FusionDrive failure. A macOS installation failure and two pairs BeatsX.
