Upcoming Apple TV+ comedy "Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet" is set to debut on Friday. February 7, Apple announced today.

"Mythic Quest" was created by Rob McElhenney and Charlie Day, known for their work on long running series "Always Sunny in Philadelphia." Day won't star in the show, but McElhenney will.

The series is a live-action comedy that will feature nine half-hour episodes, all of which will be available on the February 7 launch date.

"Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet" will follow a team of video game developers as they navigate the challenges of running a popular video game. McElhenney will play the role of the company's creative director, while other cast members will include F. Murray Abraham, Danny Pudi, Imani Hakim, Charlotte Nicdao, David Hornsby, Ashly Burch, and Jessie Ennis.

The new comedy series will be one of the first comedy shows on Apple TV+, joining existing shows like "Dickinson," "For All Mankind," "See," "Servant," and "The Morning Show."

I want this to be good but I think it’s gonna be way too nerdy for normal people and super cringey for nerds

What are the chances the game they’re making in the show is for Apple Arcade? 😀

Apple and comedy will be too PC to be funny.
Why do people keep going to the tired "too PC" trope for Apple TV+ when it has clearly been demonstrated by current content that isn't the case? It is almost like there is a list of "Apple bashing" statements for MR trolls to use that just never gets updated. That's unfair because the list has recently been updated with "Threadripper rules".

Anyhow, Apple TV+ really needs more content so I am glad to see this happening. I could use the laugh. I could also use the work so Apple come by my way and make a series already.

high hopes for this, big fan of it's always sunny in Philadelphia

By the way finally saw all the current episodes of morning show. Very good show! Lot of critics got it very wrong.
I know ! I was a naysayer at the start as the trailer just didn’t sell it, but what an interesting show so far. It’s not perfect but it’s definitely entertaining. Very pleasantly surprised.
it seems like Apple TV is getting bashed just like every product they’ve ever released - AirPods look like tampons noone will wear them, the iPad is a giant iPhone, no one will use it, the iPhone doesn’t have a keyboard, no one will use it bla bla bla. SHUT UP YOU BORING BORING PEOPLE.
....And relax...

What would be the point of doing this in live action format if it's for streaming, where literally everyone is watching it on delay?

So which shows on Apple TV+ are good right now? I like science fiction but the previews for See haven't hooked me. For All Mankind seems pretty interesting, if it's done well. I'm from Amherst, so I'd like to see Dickinson, but have no idea if it's any good. I'll also have to suspend disbelief a bit, I suppose -- Dickinson didn't exactly leave the house much IRL, heheh...

A bunch of people have already jumped on your lack of understanding here. Clearly you haven’t seen some of these shows. My parents would have walked me right out of the room when I was a youngster after a few scenes in a couple of the shows I’ve watched so far. Shoving a sword down a mans throat, “praying”, numerous gruesome killings, a rape scene... it’s pretty visceral.

I was so disappointed after the “professional” reviews came out for each series, but wow were they wrong. I’m actively watching See, TMS, and FAMK. Each of them are great in their own right. The quality really sells even the less believable story lines of FAMK and SEE. This is the first time I’ve waited for an episode to drop since the 90’s.

The video game industry will practically write this script themselves. They are a comedy of errors.
Yeah it could be a rich vein. The gaming industry has had a ton of great story arcs that go as far back as E.T.’s Atari launch, Nintendo backing out of Sony’s CD-Rom, Gamer-Gate. As someone here mentioned it won’t hold a candle to Silicon Valley. Good. The gaming industry needs to have their side of the story. That’s if they can pull it off like Silicon Valley.

That's what they said about Apple and sexual content, and Apple and heavy language, and Apple and violence (See TMS, FAM, See - in case you don't get it). I think you should watch Dickinson and then talk to me about Apple and comedy.

I recommend For All Mankind if you want a serious drama with Sci-fi. I recommend See if you want a violent drama with post apocalyptic elements - and on the assumption that you can suspend disbelief. I recommend Dickinson if you are female, YA, or not an overly macho/jock-type man (it's freaking amazing, but I don't think manly men would allow themselves to be taken in by it). I recommend The Morning Show if you want a prestige drama with a killer A-list of celebs, and especially if you enjoy Billy Crudup or Jennifer Aniston - what a dynamic duo. I recommend Servant if you enjoy psychological thrillers and suspense.

I will let you know my thoughts on the others shows (Truth be Told), etc., once I watch them and form an opinion. So far everything I have seen has been stellar and WELL worth the $50/year I plunked down on day 1.

You think Apple’s planning for TV+ only extended to 1 month? You don’t think they have planned their content pipe sufficiently to ensure what you describe above doesn’t happen...at least not after one month?
I LOVE Apple's content release strategy. They announce shows with enough time between to allow the existing shows room to breath. Better to space shows out on a monthly basis to let viewers enjoy what's already there. I personally am a sucker for high quality curated content and get overwhelmed when presented with too many choices on what to watch. Apple's slow and steady release schedule has hooked me in big time. I haven't been this into TV since AMC's killer Breaking Bad/Mad Men/ (early) Walking Dead slate.

Kinda sounds like a combination of It’s Always Sunny and Silicon Valley.
Really excited for that one!

There was a long story in Halt And Catch Fire about a team developing a video game too, unfortunately I didn’t find that story all that compelling, even having developed a few games myself.

Every show are good and very well done. It's just up to you if they are for you or not. I got the service free so nothing to lose and i just started checking them one by one and see if like them and so far i enjoy all of what i started to watch. For all mankind and truth be told i haven't started.

Propably servant is my favourite now.

I don't really understand why this show is so popular. Reading the description below I understand why it's doesn't click with me. It glamourises everything I am standing up against.
Each member of "The Gang" displays unethical behavior and traits such as excessive drinking and drug abuse, dishonesty and egotism. Episodes usually find them hatching elaborate schemes and often conspiring against one another and others for personal gain, vengeance, or simply the entertainment of watching another's downfall.

I actually hope this show be more like Office.

All of them. I cut the cord YEARS ago. Long before it was a thing. I was running an HTPC 17 years ago. I haven't waited for a night for a show to air to watch it since then. But now I find myself excited for every Friday night when new episodes are out. Each of their shows has gotten better and better with each release.
