Nice Blooming in the logo.

When using Apple TV+ it appears as if the developers of the app never used Netflix or Amazon Prime Video or any other streaming service. I have to say the interface is the worst of all of them.
Ever notice that the entire logo doesn't bloom? Hrmm... lol

My brother has TiVo as his cable box. For that reason, he can't use the Xfinity app on Roku. So you must have the X1 box, even if you don't use it.
The Xfinity app is slow on Roku because of Xfinity. I use the Xfinity app on my tablet as a TV guide and it is very slow.
In the defense of Roku, the Xfinity app is slow on the Xfinity set-top box.

I am getting HD output through the Stream app on my Roku. Picture looks great. I wish the interface were better, and the Roku loaded faster, but he image quality looks good on my end once things get going.

Roku box? or Roku TV? I have heard that there is full compatibility with Roku boxes.

If Roku TV and you don't mind, could you check app version number next time you are using it? Maybe there is an update not yet sent to my Roku TV

Bad of MacRumors to omit the related news about Comcast saying the Apple TV app will be coming to Sky Q boxes in the UK.

But what I'd really love is a Sky/Sky Q app for tvOS, as it would enable me to drop the subscription I pay to have a Sky Q mini box on a second TV so I can access my Sky channels there.
According to this the Sky apps are coming to Apple Tv

My parents have a TCL with integrated Roku in the main room and while they can use the Roku, they prefer using the xFinity X1 box because they can just speak into the remote and access the various services - and it supports a significant number of streaming and movie services. So now with AppleTV+ coming, that is one less need to use the Roku integration.

Having all these services on the xFinity box also saves them from having to buy a separate Roku for their bedroom TV, which is an older Samsung model that only has integrated Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.
Makes sense for them and others, I’m sure. It’s been an effort getting my mom to do anything outside of her Comcast HDMI input. With her moving, it was either Optimum TV (getting her to learn a new system completely), or to get her familiar using one device with apps (in this case, just the TV itself).

The primary reason I did this via Android TV and YouTube TV is so that she can use Google Assistant to put on a channel. Your move, Apple.

Steam app coming to Apple TV is even better than Comcast devices support for Apple TV+. Sky news not surprising, Comcast and Sky are joint developing

Roku Streaming Stick+ (or Stick 4k depending on the TV). Also have the Roku soundbar on one TV which doubles as the Roku streaming unit and sound output. All use the Xfininty Stream app and get HD.

Apple TV+ will be coming to Comcast devices, expanding the range of devices that Apple's streaming service is available on and expanding its audience to even more customers, Comcast's CEO announced today during the company's earnings call.

apple-tv-plus-banner.jpg

The news was broken by Comcast CEO Brian Roberts, who said during the company's quarterly earnings call that Apple and Comcast have agreed on a deal that will see Apple TV+ come to Comcast devices and Comcast's own Xfinity Stream app come to the Apple TV.

With the Apple TV+ app, Comcast devices will soon be capable of tapping into Apple's growing library of original shows and movies, such as the Emmy-award-winning "Ted Lasso" and "The Morning Show." When exactly the Apple TV+ app will be available on Comcast devices remains unknown, and we'll update this article when we have more information.

Update: British TV provider Sky today announced that Apple TV+ will be available on its Sky Glass and Sky Q devices later this year. Sky customers in the UK will also be able to access Sky Go on the Apple TV starting in mid-2022.

Of course Sky would get it too, Comcast now kinda owns them…

Not to be a jerk, but they’ve been saying this for a while. Is there any indication on when?

omg thank you for surfacing that article for me!

Sky Go app on tv – this sounds extremely promising!

(Once this happens, just need Netflix to relent and allow their content to appear in 'Up Next'.)

Thank you for the HOPE that maybe there is an Xfinity Stream update available on the ROKU TV. I just checked the much-more expensive and newer Samsung again and it definitely does NOT offer HD channels. But I'll check the ROKU (TCL) TV again and maybe at least that one will have it.

I guess long-term dealings with Comcast just make me assume more pessimism... especially when one way makes Comcast more money (have to lease their box) vs. the other way (use the free app). But I'll check that ROKU and hope to be pleasantly surprised.

My (pessimistic) guess is that Xfinity app may finally show up on AppleTVs but it will be the same way. Why? There's no mandate (in fact, the FCC went the other way during the last administration and this one hasn't reversed some of those good-for-big cable-bad-for-consumer decisions) so my pessimism stems from that simple question of what makes Comcast more money? But I'd love to be wrong about this.

Update: there WAS an update for the Xfinity Stream app on the ROKU (TCL) TV to version 6.2.1. However, no HD channels. In my area (Florida), HD channels are clustered in the 400-500s. Those are simply NOT available at all in the Xfinity Stream app guide: SD channels up to about 280 and then a jump to the 600s and above. HD channels are also in the 1000s but those are also NOT available in this app. It's as if those channels do not exist.

So nutshell: Xfinity app on 2 completely separate TV brands both have the full collection of Xfinity channels to which I subscribe but none are HD. Xfinity Stream on tiny-screen Apple devices offer the HD channels too but no way to easily "throw" them to the big screen, except an HDMI connection from a Mac though that seems to be lacking normal sound.

I'll hope for better on AppleTV and I'll hope they actually follow through and deliver the app on AppleTV. But I suspect lease box revenue vs. free app will probably NOT deliver HD quality in the Xfinity stream app. It seems like Roku boxes offer the only simple way right now... even vs. ROKU software built into TCL TVs.

I wonder if Xfinity will take the Stream App out of Beta.

On my Xfinity network the Stream App would need to re-authenticate with Xfinity each time we turned on our TV and many times we would need to give this a try 10-30 times in order to watch TV. When I called Customer Support half thought I was having issues with their STB, almost half thought it was just a ROKU issue, only 1 knew exactly what I was referring to and the App itself. I went through 3 ROKU devices and all had issues, I finally just stuck with the new ROKU TV we bought and use the app on that.

Anyway, I jumped ship to FIOS as Xfinty was getting higher monthly costs, worse TV reception, and super slow internet.

Very happy to hear that the xfinity app is coming to the AppleTV. I actually only have a couple TVs in the house with cable boxes, but multiple TVs with AppleTVs. This will be a welcome addition.

in regards to Sky Q in the UK.

SkyGo is poor picture quality (somewhere between SD and HD). It is meant for mobile devices really.
With the introduction on the Sky Glass system and the multi room 'pucks' what people should be hoping for is the puck quality app on the Apple TV instead (so it can access cloud recordings in 4k HDR etc).

This would be ground breaking, however there is also no way that would be available without a multi-room subscription.

Maybe there will be a multi-room sub, with a £50 one off charge per puck (if required), but you can use an existing AppleTV instead. If Sky are as eco friendly as their constant adverts state this should hopefully be option.

What do you mean? Do you not see the blooming in the „+“ even if it is intended, it looks bad IMHO.

But the interface of Apple TV+ is horrible. On my TV it doesn’t even play the next episode. E.g. Ted Lasso episode 8 finishes. You would think next up is episode 9 or at least some way to click once for episode 9. But no, next up is another series, so I need to find the entire Ted Lasso show to be able to watch the next show.

Just wow  but not in a good way.

Yes of course I see blooming around the “+”, that’s the only part of the logo that blooms so I assume it’s intentional. I think it looks fine but whatever.

AppleTV+ works for me as you’d expect on an AppleTV. Not sure which device you use.

Believe they have just re-structured their deals, so that SkyGo+ is now only available with a multiform sub, so they've started setting the wheels in motion.

Here's hoping for a fantastic app and maybe even better quality?!

Seems to be targeting 1st half of 22 now... https://www.skygroup.sky/en-gb/article/sky-to-bring-apple-tv-to-sky-glass-and-sky-q-customers

This is actually great news. I could theoretically drop my Youtube TV subscription that has ballooned to $70/month and just log in to the Xfinity account associated with another residence of mine. Although I am not sure if Comcast will force you to be on Xfinity internet to use it or at the same address as the account to use the app. I know on iOS, it doesn't matter where you are or what internet you are on. I only use Youtube TV to watch live sports anyway

What I saw on my brother's TV was a message implying he would have to surrender TiVo's control of his Xfinity. This was a few years ago.
I have an Apple TV coming soon. I've never spent more than $50 on a streaming device. My goal is to convert Mom into cutting the cord. It will be different for me, but she is older. I've heard the ATV has over the top picture and sound. My Xfinity cable box (Flex product) is terrible with a half baked OS.
