Perhaps Apple can negotiate a threshold of 15% if it can qualify as a small business.
Not doubting you, but where does it say that?
This is probably why the BBC is no longer "European".Apple TV+ is a US-based streaming network; why should it be forced to carry European content? This makes no sense.
It's as if the BBC were to offer a streaming network in the US but then be forced to carry US content. It's a foreign network!
Or they both are? Who should nations put first other than their own non violent interests?Who says EU doing it is fine? Neither of them are in the right here.
Me too, but I'm against any sort of government mandate. If people don't like the content delivered by a service, they can cancel the service or not use it altogether. As an American, I welcome more EU content! European shows have been consistently getting better than the US stuff.
There appears to be crossed wires here.
Apple sells products and services in the EU, so they have to follow the law where they do business. Simple as that.Apple TV+ is a US-based streaming network; why should it be forced to carry European content? This makes no sense.

A lot of European production suffer from US competition and there are not a lot of European streaming services (yet).Apple TV+ is a US-based streaming network; why should it be forced to carry European content? This makes no sense.

Well, obviously a lot of people in Europe watch US movies because they have a much bigger film industry and produce easy to consume content and blockbusters. They draw bigger crowds than indie European movies, which are also quite expensive if you take the size of their target audience into account. So the EU movie market really suffers from the US competition. What a dumb law. Let the people decide if they want to watch it or not. Ask people in Europe if they prefer Hollywood movies or movies produced in Europe.
Hollywood movies wouldn’t get so much airtime on European TV if they didn’t get big ratings

Hollywood Films Still Dominate European TV
Two-thirds of feature films broadcast on European TV are American, a new study reveals, with less than a third European.www.hollywoodreporter.com
For four years we watched the America First show, it was hilarious and amusing ;-)So Europe putting Europe first is fine, but when America tries to put America first everyone loses it.
What do you mean it’s “fine”? People see laws like this as stupid and they would be just as stupid if America did it.So Europe putting Europe first is fine, but when America tries to put America first everyone loses it.
No, it says that British content would be included in the mix, not that the regulations would include the UK.It specifically says it would still include the Britain despite Brexit.
Europe putting Europe, some people love it, some people hate it.So Europe putting Europe first is fine, but when America tries to put America first everyone loses it.
Maybe you should have faith in your own market. If there are actually good movies and TV shows it’s viable without forcing companies to produce a set amount of local content.Smaller countries simply can't compete and so, without some sort of balancing, we would lose our TV and film industries altogether. So if you want our audience, there need to be some concessions for local content.
So there are really only two options to change that, either the US produces less movies or Europe produces more movies people want to watch. All I know is this law is not good, streaming services will have to cut some content just to meet some dumb ratio.Well, obviously a lot of people in Europe watch US movies because they have a much bigger film industry and produce easy to consume content and blockbusters.
