Ah, so you admit to "never having watched anything" on Apple TV+, yet in that same breath you knock Dads for the content in that show. You should know that, having watched Dad, it's a phenomenal show and the focus is actually on 6 non-celebrity Dads and is an homage to men. There isn't enough of this on TV.Gross. How utterly tone-deaf to release “Dads” at a time when so many Americans and people worldwide are slipping into poverty due to coronavirus.
NOBODY CARES ABOUT RICH CELEBRITY FATHERS. THEIR EXPERIENCE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH REAL DADHOOD, as their wealth is so astronomically high they can afford to make mistake after mistake in parenting, and have the stability to stay good fathers even when times get extremely tough for everyone else.
Jfc. How is this not apparent?
This is even worse than “we’re all in this together” drivel we were hearing before from the celebrities.
I will now make a statement with my free 1 year subscription to Apple TV+ and cancel it immediately, never having used it once.

But, your loss.
4 minutes of celebrities and Ron Howard/Bryce Dallas. Then 10 minutes of the first Dad. 4 minutes of celebrities. Then 10 minutes of the second Dad, etc. The celebrities are just familiar faces to serve as segues between the main content, which is about regular Dads and their parenting techniques and decisions.Do they or do they not feature celebrities talking about being fathers first, before they get to the other men?

That’s whole lot of projection for something you haven’t watched.Again, how tone-deaf to think we need celebrities to keep our attention.
Why couldn’t they have just been omitted? Celebrities will be fine, and they will come back, but jfc many of us don’t want to hear opinions about life from them right now, let alone about something as expensive as fatherhood.
Something like 30-40 million Americans or more have applied for unemployment, it’s worse than the Great Depression. Can they not put in our faces the people in our cultures who are some of the few who will never have money problems in their lifetimes?
Couldn’t they have shown us struggling dads instead of celebrities? I’d much rather see a dad who is struggling to raise his kids and is barely making it, and still seeing how he is daily managing and sure even in some cases escaping those situations.
Instead I get fluff about Potsy and how much of a miracle it is to have the wealth to raise your kids however you want with nigh-boundless safety.
Why so much over the top drama?
One show you don’t like (let’s throw Dear in too) because of celebrities, doesn’t mean Apple isn’t succeeding. There are over 12 outstanding series already on TV+ and more seasons are on the way.I think because I really wanted Apple TV+ to succeed and I’m a bit gobsmacked at how one of the richest companies in the world can’t get television right.
I had no problems with Riding in Cars with Celebrities (or whatever that show was that Apple was doing with that British comedian...) when things were normal, but pandemic reaaalllly sucks and if I have to hear some opinions can it PLEASE BE FROM MY PEERS?! No? Not even now? Not even when the world is suffering we must make sure these celebrities get richer?
Why can’t Apple make programming that vows to use nobody already famous? MAKE people famous. At least right now. Just for now. Just to show they care. Like they did with Apple Card and the covid payment delay option.
Apple is just chasing the lead on this one, and that leader is Netflix.
I guess that’s why I’m being dramatic. I just feel Apple is being so stupid throughout this. Now is a 100 year pandemic, we’re all stuck inside, and I don’t want to see absolutely anything on their platform and that concerns me. And I watch a little of EVERYTHING but nothing has compelled me and now certainly not Potsy and the Fresh Prince giving me nuggets of wisdom, when they also both own mile-long gold nuggets.

oh, and it’s Richie, not Potsie. Ron Howard is a special person and he clearly knows how to be a Dad. Enough with knocking other people, celebrities or not.
It’s a temporary setback. Once Covid ends everything will be back to normal. No need to overreact.God. He’s clearly special. That’s not the point. I know that they actually know how to be good fathers. Again, not the point. I have nothing against these celebrities. I have greatly enjoyed their work in my worst moments. But this is OUR worst moment. Can we leave them out if it for once? I promise they’re all going to be okay...
I’m not even badmouthing those celebrities. It’s Apple that decided now was the time to put their words in the forefront.
AppleTV is trying to beat Netflix in the game of propaganda.
I can see how you perceive this; you’re entitled to your perception. I, on the other hand am a 60-something “high risk” person stuck at home and get an overdose of reality on the news and social media, so I enjoy being entertained by “celebrities” and getting positive messages coming from anyone who cares to share them.Edit 2: Yes fine, once Covid ends... but we’re potentially talking about a whole entire year still or more.

I am happy with Netflix too. I won't be paying 4 tv subscriptions, it's silly. Judging from the shows' artwork they look clinical and boring. (Banker: two guys shaking hands, Dads: a dad kissing his daughter, in off-white and beige backgrounds. Meeh)I want to try Apple TV+ but I feel Apple TV+ only caters to the typical fairy tale American family. I like Netflix because it has drama, sex and foreign movies. Can someone tell me I am wrong about Apple Tv?
You can get a minimum of a week for free; a year if you’re buying a new device. There was an in-depth response to the post you responded to (the very wrong perception about the “fairy tale all-american family”). As the saying goes, “don’t judge a book by its cover”.I am happy with Netflix too. I won't be paying 4 tv subscriptions, it's silly. Judging from the shows' artwork they look clinical and boring. The Banker is phenomenal. And free. Do yourself a favor and watch it. Thank me later. It's one of the best movies of the year on any service.I am happy with Netflix too.
