But the Finns are very tech savvy and intelligent, hence Android being 66% of the market here.

That number might be higher here, but if you look at the countries that had it before and those they added you get 2 in the Americas where Baseball might be a thing, and the biggest Apple-markets in the EU. So the real question should be "why not France?".

Good question. I have no idea how Apple thinks and I lost interest in baseball back when Samy Sosa and Mark McGuire were celebrated for their "accomplishments" although it was common knowledge they were on steroids.

I am happy to read this but doubt many people will get up at night to watch live baseball. Or is it possible to watch past games on demand for maybe 24h or so?
I'm an American living in the UK for nearly 20 years and do subscribe to cable and so watch very little US sporting events. I was stoked to see this and thought that surely I could watch a game while doing some work around the flat on Saturday, but no such luck...you need to stream the games live.

I keep hoping Big10 TV will come to Apple TV. Years back they offered an International sub but you had to watch on your computer and I just wasn't geared up for that to be any more enjoyable than refreshing the scores in Google.

Unfortunately, Apple TV for US sports in International markets is basically garbage from what I've seen.

Apple today announced that its weekly MLB doubleheader "Friday Night Baseball" can now be viewed in Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Germany, and Italy. The games remain free to watch on Apple TV+ without a subscription for a limited time.

Apple also released the September schedule for "Friday Night Baseball" games. Assigned broadcasters for each game will be announced on a weekly basis. The weekly doubleheaders, and additional content like live pregame and postgame shows, can be watched in the Apple TV app across the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD boxes, select Xbox and PlayStation consoles, select smart TVs from brands like Samsung and LG, on the web at tv.apple.com, and on select other platforms.

"Friday Night Baseball" debuted on Apple TV+ in April and will continue through the 2022 regular season, which ends October 5. The games can also be watched in the United States, Canada, Australia, Brazil, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, and the United Kingdom.

Looking forward to Apple buying the rights for F1 ☺️

We live in a world where you can watch a ball game sitting in a park on the other side of the globe in HD on your cell phone.

Amazing....

I have been to Italy many times, love the country and people but I wonder why Apple often chooses Italy as one of the few countries to receive products and services before the rest of the world. There must be a reason. Here in Finland we get bugger all. No annual subscription to Apple Music, no trade-in for Apple hardware etc. etc.
I wondered that myself, especially given how we get features earlier than equally important european countries (like the Netherlands, France ecc...).
Perhaps it's because Italy is quiye populous (60million).

US sport is very easy, and relatively cheap, to watch in the UK. I've subscribed to mlb.tv for years, and often have NFL gameday (depending on what games are on Sky) as well. Its easier to follow on TV than many British sports.

The only 'bad' thing about it is that they don't use your local broadcaster from your team - the Apple bland personalities try so hard to be impartial that they sound robotic and boring.

I was wondering the same thing.. I guess expats?
I am German and among maybe 10-12 other people here who love Baseball. The other 80m of us couldn't be any less bothered, to be honest. However, I already have a subscription to MLB.tv. That means I won't be watching any games on Apple TV+.

Edit: I find it always so funny that Americans think only because some Europeans wear baseball caps people know what the logo on the cap means, or even that it may refer to a baseball franchise.
