Ignoring all of the posts that ignored your actual question you're getting a lot of, "Yeah! Buy it!"

I say DO NOT BUY IT YET! The hardware is going to be refreshed very, very soon and you will be ticked at how outdated your new "old" Apple TV is compared to the new ones.

The new one will be cheaper, have 1080p, larger hard drives, faster hardware, and probably more features that will only be partially supported on the old hardware.

So, again, DO NOT BUY YET! There will most likely be a refresh before the end of the year.

How do you know?

There is a possibility for a refresh soon, but we haven't heard any rumors about it from sources that have any accuracy. Everything is just talk here in this forum about what people want to see in an Apple TV.

Well that is enough for me to wait. Also if I have a 1080p tv I would like to have at least a 1080 possible device hooked to it.

The only rumors I've seen are those derived from patents. They have the one showing a "Wii" like remote pointing at an Apple TV with the App Store icon highlighted. I really feel like that is a logical step anyway. Here's hoping. Less than 2 months until the iPod event.

Patents are no basis for product releases. Just look at some of Apple's patents from several years ago. Only a small percentage of technologies actually end up in products.

I agree. I don't see the Wii remote coming to Apple TV, but I do think the App store will be in the next release.
