I don’t know about classics but definitely some rewatch able movies. Im not going to complain about “free” content.
Apple has again added a collection of classic movies to Apple TV that subscribers can now stream at no extra cost.
![]()
The films are located in a new "Great Movies Available Now on Apple TV" carousel inside the Apple TV app. So far, free titles are showing up for subscribers in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, with the exact selection differing by country. In the U.S., 19 movies are available:
- 21 Jump Street
- Arrival
- The Aviator
- A Beautiful Mind
- The Bourne Identity
- Charlie's Angels
- E.T.
- Forgetting Sarah Marshall
- Gone Girl
- I, Robot
- Looper
- The Martian
- Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol
- The Proposal
- The Rookie
- The Sixth Sense
- Titanic
- Zodiac
- Zoolander
Other countries such as the United Kingdom appear to have much smaller collections of movies, with only six titles available.
These licensed titles sit alongside Apple's own catalog, which now includes more than 300 original productions.
It is not clear whether this is a lasting change to the catalog or a short-term feature. Apple added 51 licensed films under a "Great Movies on Apple TV+" label in March 2024, then followed up with roughly 30 more titles the next month, and neither run lasted more than a few weeks.

Seriously? On a list that includes The Proposal and Charlie's Angels, you call out Arrival? That's arguably the best movie on this list.

Are we talking about the same Arrival? The one in the list is about some alien octopuses squirting ink over a glass.
Apple isn't calling them classics, MacRumors is. Apple just calls them "Great Movies".Classic Movies like The Martian? It was a good film, but it was only released in 2015! I feel like "classics" are movies that have been well revered for many decades.
We are getting old“Classic” movies like “Charlie’s Angels”? Seriously?
Well, the person I asked the question to was the one who referenced "other free site".But aren't these not actually free?
You have to be a paying ATV subscriber don't you?
(maybe I'm confused - apologies if so)
Well now I feel old. When it said classic movies I expected like casa Blanca not the Martian.
As a person who was a full on adult when all of these came out and still not old, I object to calling these “classic movies”
With regards to being free or not, if Costco was giving away hot dogs without cost to members, are they free since you have to have a membership? Some of life's most difficult questions! 😀
The boat won't sink in the Apple version.
Just showing your age, time moves on. Those movies and channels mentioned are nostalgia at this point. When I think of classic movies I think of movies that we can find on TCM, Turner Classic Movies.
I just watched an episode where it took us back to the classic era of Casablanca and when I saw the headline here being "classic" I thought that was what was going to happen. Then I see some movies from 15 years ago and was kinda disappointed. I'm glad Apple is allowing these movies on the subscription but I was expecting a little something old school, like Dick Tracy or the Noir films from the 50s and 60s.Well now I feel old. When it said classic movies I expected like casa Blanca not the Martian.
Costco sells those hot dogs for a loss over many many years it has not caught up with inflation. It’s a loss leader to draw in members and membership signups. Does it make any sense that one can have a Costco hot dog for much less than an ice cream cone; nope, it’s a business decision.Well, the person I asked the question to was the one who referenced "other free site".
