This is a list of popular movies that showed on other streaming services, like TUBI, FreeVee, PLEX.
So Apple TVis using an old list of tried movies. Need the 3 Taken, the 3 Transporter movies, theses are always entertaining.

please make 3rd party content the future of Apple TV, its really hard to justify the price in its current form. I've watched everything I want to watch and I'm just twiddling my thumbs for new stuff. We are on Apple One so not worth cancelling but I might consider it at some point.

What is the rest of the world you speak of? Heck my US friends want to do stuff via Venmo all the time and can't wrap their head around the fact we don't have Venmo in Europe, like it means we're still using seashells for currency.
I can’t speak for Europe but in Canada, we’d had free Interact cash transfers since circa 2010? No fees and no need to install another app (Venmo), it’s all done via whichever bank app you use. I’d assume Europe has something similar. There’s very little chance of Venmo succeeding in Canada.

Awesome

I canceled my Apple TV+ a while ago after Apple raised the price from $4.99 to $9.99. However, every time I qualify for the various promotional trials, I always take advantage of those, considering how easy it is to cancel ahead of time (from within the settings app - so that it doesn’t auto renew)

For example, if it’s a 2 month free trial, I will always attach a reminder (to the $0.00 subscription confirmation email - you can do this from within the Apple Mail app) and have the reminder go off at a specific date - I set the date exactly one month before the trial renews and when you go through the cancellation process, it specifically says that after you cancel, you will be able to keep your subscription through the remainder of the trial (with the benefit of it not auto-renewing)

I was able to get another 3 months of Apple TV+ for free this morning because I subscribe to the slickdeals.net newsletter and they emailed me this morning about Best Buy offering 3 months for free (to new OR returning qualified customers) and I qualified😁🍎👌😎

In the UK our banking apps can just send money to friends in minutes. I heard in america they don’t have that as an option and that’s why venmo is popular?

Not sure what Venmo is, but "aimed at users who wish to split their bills. Account holders can transfer funds to others via a mobile phone app; both the sender and receiver must live in the United States"

Here in the Netherlands you can send a payment request directly from the bank's app. The request is sent via iMessage, Whatsapp, e-mail etc. The other person can open the link, opens his bank app and directly transfer the money. Instantly, no delays, no other companies in between. Handy when you want to split bills, collect money for a present, are selling stuff online.

Ha yes! Same here. I was stuck in constant loop of free apple subscriptions. We have a family plan so when I got it free for 6 months via my mobile phone network my entire family got it. When it expires my wife had an offer. Then we had another offer after that From our broadband provider.. ha makes up for their ram and ssd price is suppose 😂

I'm in America and think I've only ever used Venmo twice.
Zelle is the popular way to send money between bank accounts, instantly and for free.
PayPal after that.
Venmo, CashApp, and others are sort of third tier apps to use. There are those who use and love them, but it's secondary to Zelle and PayPal.

Am I right in what I’ve heard heard that you can’t send money to a friend for 10$ from say Bank of America or any other mainstream bank? It has to be via those apps you mention?

Indeed in the Netherlands Tikkie has been around forever (the Dutch *always* split bills when going out so it was a required feature to keep society moving smoothly)...

My EU friends are always shocked that I still have to deal with a paper check on occasion.. they wonder how the US is still in the early 20th century financially... I know some 50+ year olds here that have never heard of the paper check concept... to them sounds very sketch (which let's face it, it is many times... though I tell them without it couldn't have had the book/movie "Catch me if you can").

Heat (the movie by Michael Mann) has been available to rent on AppleTV+ for a while at 3.99, but not available to purchase. All of the other streamers have it for sale. I wonder what’s up with that?
Double check it on your iTunes store on a Mac. . I noticed somethings arent available to buy if you have a streaming app installed. It seems to push to the streaming app as a priority

Interesting take. At least 3 of these movies have won best picture off the top of my head.

Not a commentary on the quality of the movies. Just that they are the kinds of films you find on Tubi streaming free with ads. Doesn't really fit in with the type of image Apple tried to cultivate with Apple TV+ at least at first. Pivoting strategy now I guess.

I just don't see back catalog movies like this as a big value add for the service.

Wait. These are actually really good lol. I’m definitely watching some of these. Hope they keep doing this. It’s awesome
Agreed!
Last month I found myself watching Fight Club, Catch Me If You Can, Training Day and maybe another one that escapes me… just for the whole reason that they were there, in front, ready to go.

And they were a treat, when I watched them close to two decades+ ago I was too young and green, many of the nuisances definitely flew past by me.

When content was in iTunes on the iPhone, I used to get notices from Tunes Genie when Movies and TV I like were on sale and I would regularly buy them. Since it was all moved to TV+ I have lost that facility and as a result not bought anything. Is there a new way to get that facility back? Am I missing something? Any help gratefully received. I do not mind paying top dollar on new releases but adding old movies and tv box sets I can only justify it when I buy on a deal. Thanks

a few comments:
1. While limited in duration, these movies are mostly good movies that I have enjoyed and wanted to watch again, or movies I hadn't seen before and was willing to try. And they are shown without any commercials or ads, unlike Freevee or Tube. Good move by Apple, and I hope they continue it.

2. The Store portion of AppleTV+ has movies and TV series for sale at discount each week (different titles each week). I occasionally purchase some, although I mostly stream.
