Got an analog clock on the wall in the same room, as well as a visible temp, humidity, and barometer next to that. Even all of those are far superior to any AI voice assistant, including Siri.

On the ATV, I gave up trying since every time I asked her to play a specific show ("Watch Stranger Things on Netflix/Watch Star Trek:The Next Generation") it never continued where I was from the season I was on. It ALWAYS started Season 1 episode 1. Every. Time.
I only use for launching apps and voice search’s within sVoD app. I don’t use Apple TV app to track other app search history.

I have zero use for Siri on ATV. She’s only available in Dutch in my region and doesn’t understand song, movie or show titles.

And user profiles don’t support third party video apps so that’s also pointless.
Use it for time, and local temp, sometimes you want that when watching.

So you’ll buy the most expensive streaming box with a Siri Remote to ask the time? What a waste of resources. Definitely not the revolutionary future of television, that’s for sure.

Just because it has that feature, doesn't mean it ONLY has that feature.

I mean if I bump the button or it is hit in a pocket or a kid hits it. Not me intentionally holding it down. If you tap the button the prompt stays on the screen. It never diappears even after a minute. It wouldn’t be “that hard” for the prompt to time out after a tap and no further input for like fifteen seconds.

I guess I’m the only one this happens to.
No, I agree that you can hit the button by mistake. But you don't have to wait for the longish time-out, you can just say "cancel" and the Siri "sparkle" goes away. That's my point, it's not hard to remove it.
Perhaps people would prefer some additional alternatives, but I am giving you A solution.

I didn't read it that way when you wrote it, thank you for the suggestion. I'll give it a shot. It didn't occur to me because the prompt says hold down the button to talk.

But will the Siri on screen prompt eventually go away now if I accidentally tap the Siri button?

Yes, finally!

If you press and hold then release, it goes away. If you invoked Siri but change your mind, click the button again and it “pops” away. Works well.

Hey all, I started a new thread on this topic, but thought I would also post my question here.

I can't seem to get voice recognition to fully activate on an ATV 4k (3rd gen) I'm asked to confirm on an apple device, and I confirm on an iPhone 12 Pro Max, get the OK check mark on both devices. However on the ATV the setting sits greyed out with a spinning gear. Both devices are on 16.4.1. In the Home app on 16.4.1, voice recognition is on. So this is just happening on the Apple TV.

One other note, I tried also enabling this on the 2nd Gen ATV the 3rd Gen replaced, and it did the same thing, so it's not a specific issue to the new ATV. I then reset the 2nd Gen ATV to factory defaults and put it away.

After reading about the feature some more, it suggests it's intended to be used in a multiple user setup. In my home setup, I'm the only user, so I was curious if that's maybe why it's not working as it should. Thanks

Has anyone been able to get this to activate? I go through the steps, get the OK check marks on the ATV and iPhone, and then the ATV just sits there saying it's syncing with iCloud and never activates. Phone and ATV are on 16.4.1.
