With all those who wanted the apple tv 3 to come out, i just hope they now have the patience to wait for the jailbreak. I bought several 2's just for there jailbreak, so until that comes out i'm not even slightly interested in the 3rd.

That doesn't mean anything. The availability of any item in BestBuy's inventory or on their site is not an indication of Apple product releases.

It's still plenty available on Apple.com and, Newegg. Oh, and some of the local Best Buys still have them available for pickup.

You're still trying to create information. The fact remains that the inventory of any Apple reseller, including Amazon, WalMart, BestBuy, etc. is not necessarily an indication of any imminent Apple product release. There may or may not be a release around the corner, but the inventory of those companies fluctuates, including being empty, without new product releases being imminent.

I'm not sure part of his post you're replying to. No where has he suggested that a refreshed or new Apple TV-type product is being released in the immediate future.

His post merely calls for speculation. Which is arguably the essence of MR and its forums.

And the point is that the mere absence of a particular product at any given point in time from any reseller(s)' inventory is not a sufficient foundation on which to base any speculation. You can just as easily (and accurately) speculate that a new Mac Pro will be released next week, because there are none available at the nearest grocery store.

    Don't tell Arn.

MacBook Air Supplies Dwindle, Refresh Coming Soon?

iMac Supplies Becoming Constrained Ahead of Potential Refresh

    No, not at all.

This development is also common in the absence of new model introductions, which is why it's not a reliable indicator. The same goes for inventory of Apple Refurbs. I can't begin to count the number of times over the years I've seen people get excited because of low inventory from these sources, only to be disappointed when a few days or weeks later, inventory is replenished and no new models were released. If you want to believe it, go ahead. You may be right this time; you may not.

Not my problem nor my argument. You'd have to have that argument with whomever wrote that article; presumably Arn or Erik.

My argument is that MR uses the same information that the OP used to speculate on the future of Apple product refreshes.

I think the only one getting excited over anything is you. No one who has posted in this thread, thus far, seems to give a damn about purchasing the latest Apple TV product. Only that one may be introduced in the near future.

I was getting ready to pull trigger on a second Apple TV for the den, especially now that AirPlay mirroring is coming, but Amazon is dry. With multiple vendors showing diminished inventory, I am betting a refresh that works with 1080P is coming with the new iPad in a few weeks. I can wait a few weeks to see what shakes out.

I installed OS X 10.8 last night. I couldn't get AirPlay to work with my current Apple TV 2, even though I checked it for updates last night. It could mean that an update is coming or it could mean a new device is coming. After my first year or 2 of waiting for new Apple products I've learned to just wait and try not to read too much into anything or I'll pull my hair out.

Lack of inventory as an only indicator isn't reliable. But there's been other hints over the last five months including references to an unreleased Apple TV 3,1 model in iOS 5. The fun part is pieceing it all together and speculating.

It's also important that both best buy and amazon are cleaned out...

Since there has been reports that Apple doesn't allow resellers to restock the ATV2 since at least a week or two, the comparison is invalid.

I have roku and a htpc attached to my hdtv. I have an ipad2. Do i need atv? And why? Also i see in ebay new jaibroken units for about $160. Anyone get one? Its worth it to me i think to pay the extra and already have it jailbroken without the hassle. Thoughts please.

You're trying way to hard to disprove something initially declared to be a fun rumor on a rumor site forum. And btw, almost everything you said so far was wrong. Retailers inventory has historically been indicators to a product refresh. The store links you created are NOT for new/available products. And using big words doesn't make someone sound like an expert.
